Adem Yze

I think Yze will bring something new.
The club had to seek council from Cotch and Buckley to endorse the game plan. So its definitely something new.

I have great confidence that Ooz won’t be completely flipping the game plan. He’s been pretty open right from the start about a few tweaks being all it needs. If we are concentrating on skills it’s probably because standards have really dropped in recent years. We won’t be getting too conservative with ball use. The club prides itself on the Richmond brand which has been developed and demonstrated as being a winning style in our last 2 successful eras. Total football.

Spot on, plus hopefully an improvement at stoppages. We could learn a lot from Yze with how Melbourne have operated in that space the last few years. We also have the names on paper to be an elite midfield, it's just about getting the right mix, plus them all gelling

As ever it will come down to the cattle to execute Yze's game plan.

I remember when Dimma first arrived saying he knew what the blueprint looked like to be a successful side, it was more about having the personnel to deliver on it. At first we were the worst team since Fitzroy but slowly & surely those that couldn't do what he wanted were weeded out.
Coupled with that yes we had a surge aspect to our game but ultimately Harwick & his footy dept sculpted a team based primarily on defensive aspects of the game rather than elite football skills. Pressure kings, destroy what's beautiful. Attack on the rebound. Chaos ball.

Yze's approach is almost a complete 360 from that. The right approach & the only way forward after the SHocking rule changes.

But our list is definitely behind the 8 ball if kicking precision is the crux of it.

It's going to take time & patience...

The modern game accentuates the original basis of Australian Rule Football. It is a game of keepings off - you got the ball the opposition cannot score goals. The precision of disposals is paramount in today's game.

And IMO unless someone has waved a magic wand, precision passing is not one of any of our players fortes......
Have a look at the last couple of flags. Keepings off all over the park by forward handballs and lace out deliveries.

Disagree with these points.

Look at Collingwood, they have moved away from that slow ball movement, kicking game with outstanding results. Geelong similar, but not to the same level.

GWS under Kingsley, similar. Slow kicking game under Cameron. Opposite under Kingsley. Look at their recruitment under Kingsley. All about leg speed.

Speed is still king, both in ball movement and leg speed. You need to take risks and put the opposition under pressure.

Safe football is the road to nowhere more than ever.

Good thing is, we are the original kings of quick movement ball in hand. It's ingrained. Sounds like Yze will "just" tweak it to involve a better balance between kicking and leg speed.

Who said anything about slow Daisy? You can still be quick & be a good kick. The Pies & Giants took our gameplan & improved on it with quality disposal. Natural evolution.

We are the kings of Speed.

Disagree. Buckley and Chris Scott (before he changed his style in 21/22) were all about precision disposal and keepings off. They got zero flags and turned the game into a snorefest.
Wobbles under Malthouse when they won the flag were an awesome pressure side with a few good kicks and markers of the ball!

A relative of mine was at Xmas lunch today and said he has been training with one of our senior players (his house mate is very good friends with this player). The player is also in very good physical condition.
He said the players are very, very up and about and belief is high amongst the playing group that they're a chance for the flag this year.
This player has said Yze has taken a lot of pressure and weight off the players shoulders and they're enjoying being at the club again.
Yze has them believing in the football ability again as a unit and are really excited about the game plan, which will focus on being creative and attacking with the ball in hand.
The players also are aware, that this is the last roll of the dice with this group. After this next season, they're done and it'll be time to re-tool.

Every player would want to feel optimistic, but it sounds like this is our actual last dance for this generation. 2024 should be nothing but exciting.

Finding some of Yze's potential moves quite refreshing.
Especially what he's looking to do with our attack.

He's speaking at Club 80 tonight so keen to hear more..

I know club 80 is a tight ship of information but any details or overall feel from the night would be greatly appreciated.

If it was mentioned, could you possibly tell us which kid/kids he’s most excited to see?
