Naw, reckon it’s the opposite, they send us there to create a false economy. We will travel and pack the tin pot stadium.

We are basically the lead act.
We need to beat them, its non negotiable.

Tigers need to stick it up the AFL for their contrived shithousery and give them and Hardwick the middle finger.

No Mr nice guy promo shittt either.

Go up brain them *smile*%&* and straight home with the 4 points and with Hardwick wearing his balls as earrings.

3 multiple Premiership players I am looking forward to seeing what Yze does with them is Baker(26), D Rioli (26) & Short (27).

All three of these lads are now snr players & very good footballers no doubt but they are also in roles where younger players will also be looking for opportunities.
I wonder if he'll see if any of them can make the transition to the midfield.. because if limited to just flanker roles then they may be the type of players that get traded. They are right in the age window for that to happen if we are going through period of transition whilst still having currency.

Yze won't have the loyalty factor that's been there before. He'll make some tough calls on old favs at some stages.

Going to be an interesting year methinks..

Good post, Oldie. We've seen Bakes and Short in the midfield before. Short had a promising start but came up .. umm... short. Bakes won us a match or two but got his head bashed in and maybe doesn't have the size or run to do it full-time.

Rioli is an interesting one. Currently the world's best half-back-flanker, could he be a rover? A winger? Either way it would rob us of a lot of dash off half-back. All three are best at half-back (who isn't?) but only The Prince provides that blistering line-breaking run.

Bakes has done okay as a half-forward but we probably want more speed in the position.

Maybe Short to a wing and the other two at half-back?

Oldie rightly points out that we have Superhunks wanting opportunity. Half-back is a good spot to blood them, and arguably the best and preferred position for Brown, Trezise and maybe even Banks (otherwise wing).

A lot to train and play for in the coming months for these lads.

One of most intriguing things for me will be what our centre square set up will be.

The combination of Taranto, Prestia, Hopper proved to be too slow at the start of the year, eventually Bolton and Dusty spent more time in there.

Taranto, Martin, Shai are my preferred option. They tried to hide Prestia and Hopper forward, but they aren't hybrid mid-forwards.

Not sure we can afford to can carry Prestia, Hopper , Taranto in the same side with the way the game has changed.

It's an excellent observation. Interesting watch on those lads and how the coach deploys them.

Short looks much bigger. Serious size.

I'd love to see all three rotate between half-back, wing and half-forward.

This is true, I reckon the back six puzzle is super interesting. If all fit and form willing you can't have Balta, Gibcus, Young, Grimes, Broad, Vlastuin, Brown and Trezise.

There's four spots for eight if you take it as a given that Short and Rioli are the other two. And if you take the six out of the seven above, then you are slow.

Does Gibcus go third tall forward? It's looking more and more so that he gets trialed there. That's why I like a rotation on a back flank, wing, half-forward Short, Rioli and Baker. That leaves 7 of Young, Grimes, Broad, Vlastuin, Balta, Brown and Trezise fighting for 5 spots (+ the one small, giving six backs) or injury cover.

I think the days of Marlion and Kmac on the wings are gone. Yze will want kickers. I can't see it with the incumbents. The leftovers of Banks and Brown should be aiming for that other wing.

Imagine Banks, Brown, Short, Rioli and Baker on the wings. Now you have some serious kicking skills.

The jigsaw doesn't fit right. Yze has some work.

A few older players not going to get games as freely next season as they did last season.

It would be interesting if Ooze went down that path. It could look something like this:

B: Grimes Young Vlastuin
HB: Brown Broad Trezise
C: Ross Hopper Short
HF: D.Rioli Martin Baker
F: Koschitzke Lynch Balta
FOLL: Nankervis, Taranto, Bolton
INTER: Prestia, Graham, Gibcus, Banks
SUB: Clarke
EMERG: Sonsie, Cumberland, Ryan

I've said it before I would put Rioli back to the fwd line. Speed and a tank in the fwd line are vital - the ability to run up to the wings then quickly double back toward an open fwd line on the quick counter. Too many times during the recent past we had little options on the counter. Rioli Coulthard, Short and even Ralphsmith are players I would try in this role.

Dimmas small fwd graveyard has gone so hopefully Yze brings some more goal scoring and fun to the fwd line.

Just on Dion he spent most of the season carrying tendonitis in his knee apparantly, happy to be corrected though.

Spot on. The burnout factor was high within Dimma's sweat shop gamestyle.

Jnr started to suffer from it last year too.

That said when chaos & pressure was king it netted 3 flags.

Glad we've moved on from it though. The rule changes :cautious: required a much needed change of direction.

Tendinitis maybe but the Stewart Ko has effected him more this year. Never seem to play like he did before the Ko.
Not Michael Mitchell bad but enough to affect him
