Acceptance - we are now a middling side

Middling team trending to development team.

I disagree re: Taranto and Hopper.

They can both be fine servants yet and help see us through this transition. Without them our midfield would be utterly bereft.

The mistake was extending the careers of Jack and Cotch. Nankervis is also a liability.
Jack was a marginal decision. His last two goals against Brisbane were further evidence of such a level of skill that he got me over the line, despite his obvious fall off in speed, then and now.
Cotchin’s decision to play on surprised, but he has always put club first and known what was best.
The recruitment decision was fair enough
also, as our Mids were smashed last year and something had to be done.
So no blame for the above.
All decisions made for good reason with the possible exception of Jack’s who knew himself best and like Cotch, was given the honour of making his own.

The thing that I can’t abide was the trading of our future first. It is a mistake which will keep us down, and cost us across many levels. It should never have happened and must never happen again.

This round 4 funeral is hilarious.

Win next week, which is likely,

And we are our premiership standard pre-bye win:loss parity.

But keep shovelling in the dirt,

Its gonna be hilarious reading in October
It's crazy. There's no way we continue to lose these close ones. Our best footy is phenomonal, how do the sky is falling brigade explain that? Luck?

We definitely do need a bit of serendipity, but not many sides will be looking forward to playing us.

We will beat the swans this week I have no doubt.

Time to play pickett and baker in the guts...im stufffed as to why pickett isnt in the guts at centre bounces ..Is Samson a better tap ruvkman than Nank ??
The brightside we only just lost/drew to two pretty good sides and lost by 14 to a flying pie,s....but...we played about as atrociously as we will for all but 1 15 burst against dogs...
Get our foward line worked out and we will be a lot better moving foward..

If we don’t put in consistent, sustainable performances, then yes, we will continue to lose close games.

Im fine taking the good with the bad,

I mostly agree with Carts these days

I do bristle against even the slightest disrespect of our aging champions who have made our lives glorious.

So a bit of niggle goes both ways

Losing (or drawing) close games is an interesting one.

If we look at the close games this year:

Carlton: we should have been way ahead, our delivery into the forward 50 is what killed us and in the end we managed to pull a draw out of our rear ends when it looked like a loss with a minute to go.
Collingwood: our play was good enough to lose by 14 points when we were clearly out played for the whole game. Shouldn't have been close, they should have won by more.
Footscray: we played well for maybe 20 minutes. They dominated the clearances. Again, we were much closer than we really deserved to be.

The Carlton game is problematic as better inside 50 entries would have won us the game, but we did salvage a draw from what was looking like a loss.

The Collingwood and Footscray games shouldn't have been close, we should have lost by more. It wasn't so much a case of Richmond losing a close game as Richmond turning what should have been a substantial loss into a close game.

Na. Close games are a bit of a lottery. It's why to lose so many like we have is rare.

We need to be a bit smarter about how we play. Get the rub of the green a bit. Have a bit of luck with injury.

I remember 2017 when we lost to Bulldogs/Freo/GWS by under a goal and how it felt so unjust. It feels a bit like that now.

Might sound silly, but rub of the green is what I notice a lot in ours and other games. We just don't have the luck of this ball bouncing our way a lot of times. Maybe due to continuous fumbling and poor positioning. WTF do we do at training????

Can't blame Tarranto or Hopper, we won the hit outs
Another useless stat, that Just highlights how desperate we are for a genuine ruckman. Where's Soldo? What happened to Mate???.
Sampson had more quality minutes in the centre then nakas. If Nakas is injured he should not be playing. He was useless on the weekend.Screenshot_20230410_120432_Samsung Internet~2.jpg

He was at the Royal Children's, Friday, with Broady, and some AFLW girls for the appeal.
He is in town.

Got a feeling that both Soldo n Maaate are injured Ziggy. Just out of curiosity though. When did Maate suddenly become a genuine ruck man? On performances last year he's not as yet a footballers *smile* never mind being a ruck man.

Wasted spot IMO.
