3AW's suggested Tiger delistings

Agree, I'd keep Hughes, I happen to think he's struggling to get over the tram accident with Polak. Polak maybe kept as well, he seems to be improving constantly.

schulz is DEAD MEAT, he has to go, 8 YEARS at RFC and no runs on the board, he's gone, the others on the list should go too, with perhaps the exception of Thompson who has not played a game AFL with RFC, so he should be kept on for next season.

The others on the list like McMahon (St Kilda may take him if offered trade yeah right), JON, King etc, their time is due and they should be gone come years end.

The big question is will the new coach really take the AXE to the playing list or will it be more of the same, trading draft picks for retread AFL players.

Getting over the tram thing? What are you, a psychic?
So you want to wait 8 years before delisting HUGHES as well - who has shown LESS than Schulz??

What is the love affair with Hughes - he is no good

We have a terrible list and we have little to no hope for the future at the moment.

Here's a bunch of names I wouldn't blink an eye at if they were chopped.

-Pettifer
-Hughes
-Schulz
-JON
-Simmonds
- Brown
- Richo
- Polak
- Raines
- McMahon
- King
- Coughlan
- Johnson (gone)
- Bowden (gone)

Even Thomson/Hislop/Pattison/Connors/Moore on thin ice and they would probably be gone if they played for a better team.

Pathetic list.

In a perfect world, these are the players I'd like to see the back of at season's end

Brown
Simmonds(retire)
Johnson(retire)
King
White
Bowden(retire)
Schulz
Silvester
Pettifer
Raines
Mcmahon

Obviously some of these players are still contracted, but you never know they may be traded, although surely no one would pick them up, plus we'd have to pay out their contracts. I'd give hughes and Oakley Nicholls one more chance with a new coach coming in may make them afl players. Definately keep Tuck. Why the club gave limited players like White and King multi year contracts is beyond me. And of course IMO the worst player pick up for draft choice in Richmond's history in Mcmahon. One more year of him on our list................

you should look at the good on our list as well. You are focusing on negatives.

Consider young talent of Deledio, Cotchin, Tambling, Foley, Rieowldt, Vickery, draft pick 4 this year and an abundance of young tall defenders.
We may be behind most lists in players aged above 25 - but we are ahead of most clubs on players aged under 25.

Claw. I'd rather keep Patto and rotate him through the ruck with Graham whilst Browne, Vickery - maybe Putt - and any other young ruck we may pick as a rookie this year gain experience than invest in some one else's discards like Jacobs. Same with some of our other talls - I'd keep Polak and Silvestor for another year to take some of the heat off the youngsters. At least they display the right attitudes - unlike Hughes and Schulz. But agree with you in principle.
sorry but we have to make changes. graham and pattison really have to go. theres no hope of them ever becoming decent players. sam jacobs is 4th in line at carlton and is a better player than both pattison and graham. a big lump of a lad whos shown a bit in the games he has got. i reckon he will be a decent player and worth taking a punt on it can be no worse than what we have and we may just uncover a player.

When you can cut 14 players (or even up to 19) off a list and not think any of those players are a big loss, you're not doing too well. There's some okay talent on the list but not nearly enough.

Still don't like it. The risk is that we don't pick up that speculative 17 year 190cm player that weighs 75 kg and who could become a 95kg monster in a few years. It's all about trading for more draft picks in my opinion. Picking up just our quota is not going to put us ahead. Picking up some one else's hacks won't either. Give me a good second round pick for McMahon any day.

it can and should be organised so we do both. 3 20 36 52 68 all on kids 3 new rookies and if we manage to trade into a pick that also goes on a kid 9 youngsters. that will do me fine. the trouble is we need some maturity around these kids and we need to cull underachieving deficient players on our list. this is where the psd and player for player swaps come to the fore. 3 mature players that address structural needs wont hurt. theres lots of avenues to get some big bodies into the system the fact is we need to change things we not only need to prioritise youth but we need to be able to bring them thru at their own pace. we need to be able to look after them when they do get a game. and we need to stop overrating the players that we do have.

a lesson can be learnt from fremantle. last yr they took 21 yr old ballantyne 23 yr old broughton 21 yr old van berlo from the wafl theres nothing stopping us taking a punt on some mature wafl sanfl vfl players with late draft picks.they tuned over 13 players including rookies ballantyne aside they put nothing but kids on their list proper.
the only thing stopping us is the number of players we delist. theres nothing wrong with targeting players from other clubs who are not getting a game as long as your not giving away your early to mid range picks for them. jacobs could well be a free agent he could go in the psd.

To be honest i was quite annoyed we didnt give these two a place on our list, Van Berlo especially.

Agree. What does it take for someone to give up Pattison? He has shown nothing to suggest he will be a player.

Gawn.

I'll probable get shot down for this but I really don't rate Collingwoods list (that highly).
I'll admit their list is better compared to our own, but they have some flaws / holes in it but some how they still manage to play great football - and look to finish top 4.

IMO it comes down to development and training. Collingwood seem to have it down packed in both departments. Their young players seem to kick on quicker then most clubs and despite them aiming for the pre season cup earlier they still managed to be peaking at the right end of the season.
Until we start putting together our development center / training schedule that can match it with the best we are always going to be a step behind the other clubs.
