3 things I learnt (Rich vs GC)

Has any player on our list improved from last year?
Arguably RCD, Baker, Bolton and Pickett. Outside of that most of the rest have gone backwards and a lot significantly.

Cotchin, Martin, Prestia, Riewoldt, Edwards, Cantstandya, DTLD, Houli, Short, Aarts, Rioli, Balta, Caddy, Lambert, McIntosh and Graham have shat the bed most weeks.

Broad has shown signs but has been woeful in a few games also. Saints and Geesook he was a liability.

Assistant coaches are duds now. Outside of Kingsley they were all *smile* players also

. Our Cubs really don’t look like they will become the much needed A grade talent to win Premierships , obviously not all have to be but you need some .
Worst thing to happen to our Cubs was back to back premierships and a lost coroner cooties year. Closely followed by a massive injury run to our senior players this year.
Development and growth of young upcoming players generally happens over a season or three. A couple of kids get fed a game or two here n there to cover for an injured player n then get sent back to the magoos to work on and improve minor game deficiencies. Before hopefully getting another patch of games later in the season or following year.

Back to back premiers meant there's been very little opportunity for the youngsters to get a look at seniors last couple of years, plus the cooties killed off any real footy development at all for them last year. Losing more mature mid tier n fringies like Higlet, Lego, Menaredue, Bobble, Geezer, Towner in the last two years has created a short term depth coverage hole.
This year with so many senior players churning through an injury nightmare, there's virtually too many kids with nil experience getting thrown in at the deep end n told to swim like Thorpedo.
The current group of seniors are struggling with their own form n fitness n are unable to supply the usual support n coverage to allow the youngsters to feel their way into the senior game at the moment. This causes a minor breakdown in the match system n connection on game day n oppo teams are exploiting the gaps with ruthless abandon.

As miserable as this season has been so far, reckon there'll be a massive step up from a bunch of youngsters next year. Purely from having their baptism of fire this year n getting that desperately needed senior experience under the belt.

It’s certainly not a bad bunch of Cubs TM , it’s the A talent I’m just hoping for

1. Our mids are not good enough (and what has happened to Cotch in particular )
2. Our coaching panel needs a major refresh, we played two completely different game styles in two consecutive weeks and lost to two *smile* teams both weeks.
3. CCJ may not be the messiah any more than McBean was.
bring back Leppa and Fly to the coaching staff

Ahhhh but that's usually found in the very early draft picks Bright n shiny one. Keep getting some much needed game time into our raft of good youngsters n there's every chance our first pick in this years draft suddenly becomes a very early draft pick. Bit of a double edged sword we can use to our future advantage, even if it hurts a bit just at the moment.
Perhaps if we manage to get a bit crafty at years end we might even find a way to subtly trade our way into gathering up another very early draftee n that might seriously mess with the rest of the comp, just for a laugh of course.

1. We're not out of it until we can't make the eight.
2. Injuries have smashed us - Get some soldiers back and and connection/playing together. Our best is still very good.
3. Pressure has dropped away. Bring back the 1 Wood.

2017 was the best year of my life
2019 was the best year of my life
2020 was the best year of my life
Yep.

I think we can be positive, even with the changing of the guard.

We have been absolutely privileged.
