2024 Training With The Ooze Crew

I might have been a bit harsh, but to be honest I am aware of 2 local league clubs back training last week. It just seems odd we are only getting back today. Perhaps it's more about the coaches having a break then the players. Anyway hopefully they kept themselves busy with their own programs during the break.

Our last game was the 27th of August. So the players would have had an 11 week training break to the 13th of November when the 1 to 4 year players returned. So they get 11 weeks post season and then 3 weeks during Xmas. Not a bad gig getting 14 weeks a year. Older players 15 weeks. Close to a third of the year. Anyway I guess there must be More emphasis on personal training in the AFL now. But you can kind of understand why some players like Clarry or Smith get themselves into big trouble. Highly paid and plenty of time away to get up to mischief. I am not sure it's such a good thing... Clearly the AFLPA has pushed for this but I wonder if there has been anyone monitoring data relating to off field behaviours.

Anyway, I will move on now. Hopefully our boys come back in good condition today...

I must admit it does seem weird we have not returned before tomorrow. The season had ended by early September. Surely they have had enough holidays by now.
we finished on a thursday before christmas, which was later than most clubs, so start on a friday

21 days ? Sort of makes you wonder how much benefit from the preceding block of training gets lost. I know they get given individual programs to do but they’re unsupervised and left to the players discretion.

Think most clubs went back on Monday didn’t they ? Footage of Cwood last night - they looked pretty sharp and ripped.
Not sure if it’s still a thing but in previous years all players wore a GPS watch in the off season that tracks their movement so the club can monitor their adherence to minimum requirements that are set by the fitness staff.

Yeah ! That's what I wanna hear. Football North Korea style !

I also wanna see these blokes thrown' their guts up ! 100x100's every Monday I reckon. 1 hour of circle work every day. Holding bricks out for ages etc. Running up and down Richmond Hill.

Yes, and the other point is some players like MR junior (for example) may then (during the additional 3 weeks off) put themselves weeks behind in their preparation towards round 1 and undo some of the hard work done prior to Xmas break.

Looked like campbell and Sonsie came in before Hugo which is a good result. Definitely Campbell but not 100% sure it was somsie though.
