2024 Training With The Ooze Crew

Pretty sure Tyler Young had shoulder surgery post season so is probably a fair way behind.
That is what I surmised today and wrote in my training report after seeing the grappling coach giving his shoulder a work out, (so thanks for confirming it was his shoulder).
PS there is no shame in getting lapped by Taranto, last year he lapped two thirds of the list and a couple nearly twice.

So I popped over to the fence, must've been just after the big C.
It was extraordinarily wet and slippery when I arrived, so not surprising it wasn't the cleanest training session.
There were a large number of players and a grey miserable day so I didnt pick out many players. So cant answer questions on Lynch etc.

What i did see was repeat shuttle sprints and easy kicking drills – eg Dusty & Dion & another kicking in a triangle.
Then larger drills kicking into goals, often someone sprinting to the square.

In marking drills there were Naismith and Mate competing and Balta and Wolfmother on another cone.
Balta giving plenty of tips on body positioning in marking contests.

Gibcus running laps strongly.

MRJ running laps between doing drills.

Cumberland smashing the last 50m shuttle sprints, winning by a mile. (As caesar noted). He was also prominent in the large drill.
Sonsie also did well at the sprints.

Yze stopped the last drill a couple of times after miskicks to issue instructions.

Naismith and Mate run laps at the end. Mate opened up a 200m lead by 3 laps. He can run.

Many players joined in goal kicking after session (10-15?)

While most went goalkicking, a small group did a ball-up drill. Ryan rucking (vs Ivan I’m guessing), with Dow, Pickett and (I think) Sonsie alternating in a 2 v 1 setup.

Much appreciated. Will be good seeing Sonsie more in the middle.

He lapped them and he was still parking his car.
Let's never bring up last years preseason ever again.
It was a dogs breakfast.

Thanks TD,

I'm stoked with the fitness levels that Cumbo and The Sonz have come back in. They seem completely rejuvenated with Ooze there now. I'm not sure how well they got on with Dimma, but they are certainly putting it out there for Ooze to prove they have what it takes. Fitness has been an issue with both of them over the last couple of years so to come back in what appears to be ripping condition, they are certainly giving themselves a platform for a big year.

we won a few flags on the back of embracing mistakes with ball in hand. swarming chaos usually made up for it.

a reversion to a more traditional approach of 'dont *smile* cough it up' is a big change for this group.

might see some decorated players running around in the magoos.
