2023 Jack Dyer Medal

Fantastic to see Broady be rewarded with Francis Bourke award. Has been an amazingly consistent player who is bordering on a club champion. Extremely underrated in the comp, and I think not far off Tom Stewart.
The more I think of it, the more I believe he would make a great wingman, taking over McIntosh role. Running machine, very good mark, skilled on both feet and knows how to kick a goal.

I've always wanted him back, but its a fair option to consider. I tried taking a stab at our defence and we have a lot of players that could fit into that 7 next year, try finding a spot for Grimes, Brown, Banks etc. Maybe a move for Broady to the wing might be the move we need to make.

Taranto won it easily as expected.
What a tremendous first season. Congrats to him. Very well deserved
From the moment he turned up to the club at preseason he put the rest of them to shame & didn't let up until our season was cooked.
This ................................spot on.

So I joined late. In time for the Roach and lBourke awards.

Unfortunately it's only 2023 so my feed was buffering like crazy. Looking forward to 2075 when I can watch it seamlessly online.

As I joined late I missed the key speeches of the president and the new coach.

Yet the speeches of the top 5 (including Dusty who said *smile* all) are on the app.

When can I see the important speeches FFS?

It was always going to be a bit flat given the timing. Most players were meeting the new coach for the first time at the best and fairest and the Mini was announced as Yze's replacement at the Dee's on the same night.

Wow a 20 second runners up speech by Dusty, now that's money's worth for any members that coughed up the money to go .
I thought it was disgraceful and unfortunately not surprising. Perhaps he is now questioning his own position at the club? I don't know, but his ignorance of other people's expectations of him, on these occasions, is disappointing. Great footballer but he could never be captain. Both he and the club know it.

Agree and earlier I was anointing him as captain. He needs to give more than that if it's only partially fabricated

Can't believe people are surprised by Dusty's speech. He's a man of few words. That's the way he'll always be. Just accept him for who he is.

No mention of Shai's speech? I've never heard him talk for that long.

Shai did talk longer than usual as he tried to convey a few different sentiments and got himself a bit tongue tied., he did well especially considering he is another who is very uncomfortable speaking publicly.

I think the fact that Hardwick, Clarke, Mini etc all gone made it a bit difficult for some of the players when accepting awards but there were a few underwhelming acceptances efforts aside for Tim.

I'll give this the high horse award for the evening.

We are losing a heck of a lot of leadership with The Skip & Jack retiring in the same season.
On the back of Houli & Shedda.
These guys aren't just great footballers. Very difficult to replace the gravitas they have brought to the club.
Not to mention the departure of long term coaches.

A new era dawns but there is a large degree of uncertainty about it. Who can stand up to replace these enormous shoes to fill?

Perfect, thank you

Got slammed a bit for suggesting Dusty should not be skipper because he doesn't like media and the outward facing part that would come with the job
His speech last night is the perfect example
Absolutely nothing wrong with it, it was very Dusty. But Captains need to say more than mumbled cliches, it comes with the territory.

Cotchin needs to get on the board as soon as Gale leaves.

Agreed. Think it’s Taranto Time.
