2023 Draft Thread.

Zane Zakostelsky reminds me of a young Oscar Allen (196/90) would be happy to pick up as a tall developing fwd. Speed is my next must have. Charlie Edwards can play mid and good size at 190. Strong on ball, one touch/speed and footy nouse. Wing lets try Angus Hastie (189/77). Good height and speed to burn has the confidence to take the game on.

Not really,l thought Orlando Turner was the best from NT this year.
Rowlands got the combine invite ,so some clubs wanted to talk to him .

Just thinking if Soldo does go,Green and Goad must come into consideration ,if they aren't already.
Can confirm we’re interested in Goad

I assume we use the first 3 picks and carry one over for the preseason.

Another who comes to mind is Jez McLennan, super composed as a junior, couldn't believe he was such a flop. Even those bankable types can make a fool of you. Moir isn't without risk but his kicking is way too good to ignore, he's a better kick than Bolton who as a junior had a really loopy kicking action, way too much hang time but ultimately fixable in an AFL environment. If Moir has some decent athletic data to go with his elite kicking then he's worth a roll of the dice. His SANFL reserves form solid without being scintillating but he did kick 4.3 earlier in the season and finished pretty well with 15 & 16 disposal games in round 14 & 15. I think the big question here would be attitude - work ethic and second efforts, does he have the mongrel needed to succeed at the top level, this is perhaps another Keeler case, risky but you could wind up looking like a genius if he lifts the intensity to AFL standard.
Reminds me of one already on our list who also was seen as a "steal" in his draft,Unfortunately for us but the reasons why are becoming reality.
Sonsie.

What are the reasons. He has been inconsistent I guess but are you referring to something else.

Has all the skills, but Dimma did some strange things in his last year or so at the club and Sonz was 1 of them. He basically crucified him this year trying to teach him a lesson IMO. That GC game was the final part of that crucifixion.

Some players don't work well under the hard love scenario and need the arm around the shoulder, cuddle treatment. Dimma has previously been good with that, but the 2 that probably scream out at needing the cuddle treatment are Cumberland and Sonz and both were treated to hard love instead. Hopefully Yze, Newy and Ziebell can come in and work on that with both of them.

Whats arms around got to do with basic work ethic.
Help your team mate out.
He should watch a few Lambert tapes.

Confidence is the thing. Cumberland is clearly a confidence player and the difference we saw in Sonz from Year 1 to Year 2 was the signs of a player completely sapped of confidence.

Disagree.
But next year will tell the story on both.

And coaches have to be careful in doing it, especially when they continuosly reward other players who might be meeting "kpi's" but onfield performances are subpar to poor.

But then other players like Ross just put their head down and work through years of it and come out the other side.

New coach, new start and a *smile* load of contract decisions next year. What's not to love!

Yeah he looks a decent Ruck, had a good champs .
I remember saying to Scoop around champs time ,this year looks quite good for Ruck man .
Yep we both liked him, I'd be fine with having a crack at Goad. Or Green. We need that type. The more i look at him the more I see Carlton De Koning.
