2022 - March to the finals

Oh I know. I’m also a Carlton member thanks to my husband so I watch those games closely.

I still can’t see Brisbane winning though. We will see.
Check side you might have a have a heart to heart with hubby. Just be honest and tell him this Carlton thing ain’t doing it for you lol

You mean the game we were beating at Qtr time, lost the lead in the second but came back and went in with the lead at half time, and then pulled further away in the 3rd until Melbourne had a run we couldn't stop? This was also when Melbourne were playing very very good footy, which they aren't now. I'd back us to beat them in an elimination final.
I look at it this way. We kicked 8 goals. They kicked 9

The only concern with playing the Pies is that Fly and Leppa would know our players better than their own. As well as knowing how Dimma thinks. It's a definite advantage they have over other teams playing us.
All the more wonderful when the Tigers trounce them.

Our defensive work is slowly building since the bye. We will be the best team in it if we can become rock solid behind the footy again. Apart from a first quarter lapse against Brisbane we have defended very well in the past 4 weeks

Trent is in sensational form.
Full uninterrupted pre-season for T-Launch is paying dividends too.
Meanwhile, wheels are falling off at the Meth Cats, Cameron injured.
I think there are too many injuries for the Blues, including Hewett and Kennedy.

It’s time to assess our rivals.

Who don’t we want? Despite the hype on these boards, I can think of one.

As I’ve been saying all year, I don’t think Melbourne can win the cup because their forward line is shithouse.

But

Their brutal midfield is kryotonite to us. I think they can generate enough inside 50s to score against our back six, particularly when we don’t have a +1 down there at centre clearance.

The Demons backline is also well suited to picking off our dirty high bombs.

It’s almost like they’ve been designed specifically to kill us, which is probably true.

The rest?

We have a psychological advantage over Geelong.

Collingwood have a psychological advantage over us, but we are far bettter than them so it probably won’t matter.

Sydney are overrated and beatable.

Brisbane are flaky as *smile* and definitely beatable.

Carlton and Fremantle are easy demolitions for us.

Many here don’t mind the prospect of a demons EF, but I believe that’s our worst result.

I also don’t like a Geelong Collingwood QF. Geelong gets an easy kill and Collingwood lives another day to tinarse a SF

Good summation. Agree with all of that.

As posted in the Geelong thread:

The team that has won the 1v4 qualifying final has lost its home prelim in 5 of the last 6 years, i.e. since they brought in the pre-finals bye.

That is the prelim we'll have to go through.

I assume that was Adelaide in 2017 that was the only 1 to win it?

Those looking for a 100 point rout on Saturday might be disappointed.

I think our main focus will be to tighten up defensively before finals.

Of course, if Essendon allows us to score freely, we won’t hold back.

But I am looking for us to deny them even 10 goals.

I know its champion data and some people scoff at what they throw up but we are ranked 13th in the comp without the footy. This results in easy forward 50 entries to the opposition.

We definitely need to improve in that area.
