2022 - March to the finals

Right. So I think I have worked this out. Depending on results next week, in the first week of finals, we will play either-
Sydney in Sydney
Melbourne at the G
Brisbane in Brisbane
Collingwood at the G or
Fremantle in Perth
The only teams we can’t possibly play are Geelong or Carlton/ Bulldogs
Have I covered everything?

The lions will beat the dees, especially being at the Gabba. The Dees are not the side of last year. If it wasn't for carltons' ineptitude they would've lost that game. Blues had half their midfield out and still nearly won it.
Oh I know. I’m also a Carlton member thanks to my husband so I watch those games closely.

I still can’t see Brisbane winning though. We will see.

The other way we can keep all finals at the G are:

Brisbane beat Melbourne
Collingwood beat Carlton
St Kilda beat Sydney

That means we play Melbourne 1st week of finals. Collingwood play Brisbane in Brisbane and lose.
We then play the loser of that game in week 2 - Collingwood at the G
Then full steam ahead to beat Geelong in the prelim again

Listening to SEN this morning, our premiership odds have come in because of the potential scenario of playing finals at the MCG. The salt from the haters would be huge. :mhihi

I reckon the a Snowchains beat Brisbane. They’re not playing their best but they’re still plenty good enough to beat them.

Brisbane have lost only 1 game at home all year against Essendon when they had players out with COVID. That’s not to say Melbourne can’t win, but Brisbane go in favourites for mine.

Nice, we play finals :)
Never understood the "no point in finals if u don't win it" crowd... 17/19/20 happened on the back of 13/14/15 ... and as a starving supporter, any Sept action is bliss.

Young guns need the exposure, like Cotch & Co did

From the teams in the 8 right now, they've only beaten Cwood (by 7 points) and Nofinals-ton at the Gabba. Otherwise they havent played Geelong, Sydney, Melbourne, Freo or Richmond there. Their draw at the Gabba has been ludicrously easy.

Meh.

Lots of movement that will decide week 1. We cant go anywhere near week 2 thinking. Whatever happens the last few years - and our experience from 2017 onwards, has us positioned to tackle any opponent in any state.

I dont think we can play Essendon wk1 of the finals. Which is strange cos i think some still have them as premiership favourites.

Be interesting to see if they do rest players.
Would imagine Pies and Freo win.
Do not fathom why Blues are equal odds with Pies.
I reckon the bloos are a good chance of beating the pies. To me they are a better team talent wise but the pies have a resolve and composure the bloos don’t have.
50/50 game to me but I am leaning to Carltoon.

Also despite what happened yesterday I don’t think the dogs are certainties against the hawks either, although you would expect them to win

I can't see #godeez beating Brisbane at the Gabba.
I can't see Carton beating Collingwood. I think Carton played their final on the weekend and failed.
Freo should prevail against GWS. Western Sydney should dig a mass grave and push the orange club in. No-one will go looking for the carcass.
Sydney will send St Kilda into oblivion.
Tigers will beat Essington.
Bulldogs? Meh, who cares.

I think we might play #godeez in week 1.

PRE pumping after the weekend. I think everyone believes.
I reckon we all got that feeling after the lions game that this side isn’t done. I’ve had my concerns all year but these things as the season has progressed have completely shifted my thoughts on why we can win it:

- introduction of Sonsie into the midfield
- Cumberland and Rioli up fwd change our mix
- Miller as a second ruck
- Lynch, Tarrant, Prestia and Cotchin’s form
- Balta and Baker back into defence
- Shai Bolton and Dan Riolis AA form
- Dustin Martin to come

The introduction of these kids into the 22 seems to have sparked the rest of the team. It’s fresh. They have rejuvenated us. We aren’t the same side we have been - and the media have banged on about that… but I’m not sure it’s such a bad thing.

Grimes is the big question - can we do it basically without him?

I know some are keen on the thought of Melbourne week 1, but they’re the only side we’ve played this year where you never really thought we’d win. Their form isn’t great atm. But they’re best is still probably the best in the Comp, would rather avoid them

Cotchins’ last two games win a Brownlow if he kept it up all year. If Prestia and Cotch stay healthy and in this form then we compete with any team for centre and around the ground clearances. Massive massive massive because along with Geelong clearly have the best two forward lines. Just need tomahawk to punch someone again.

You mean the game we were beating at Qtr time, lost the lead in the second but came back and went in with the lead at half time, and then pulled further away in the 3rd until Melbourne had a run we couldn't stop? This was also when Melbourne were playing very very good footy, which they aren't now. I'd back us to beat them in an elimination final.

I think this is a pretty accurate post. But geez the roller coaster is frustrating. The ups and downs are ridiculous.

I said this thread needs to be closed when we were losing to Brisbane. Today, if you read ^^^, I posted our potential path to the GF.
