We have a good draw from here

Play Port twice plus Cats and Lions at MCG plus Freo at Marvel the hardest games. The rest are winnable

Just have to be in form for long enough.

We are 2nd in scores for

Looks like Teague isn't all that bad after all. Interesting stat.

The problem in the way the game is played at the moment is trying to find a way to stop the turnover or clearance scoring. Teams now can move the ball towards goal so quickly it is damned difficult to stop. Very hard for the defence. Melbourne set up very well but still, clean possession towards goal is something no team can really stop. The critical thing is to avoid turnovers, avoid losing clearances, along with massive pressure on turnover possessions and clearance possessions. Not easy. It is still defence which wins flags but defence is now everywhere on the ground.

Spot on and it’s why Dion Prestia is so important. Has an uncanny ability to disrupt the opposition … hand here, toe poke there, knocking down a handball… it changes the ability of the opposition to get easy clearances around the ground.

Don't forget we haven't had our best back 7 on the park in a single game yet. Name me a better back 7 in the AFL?
Baker/Balta/Broad/Rioli/Grimes/Vlastuin/Gibcus - tough, skilled, flexible, calm, attacking - I don't think anyones cottoned on yet.

Assume Short is gonna continue to be used up the ground where we gain an advantage from his kicking (has been a masterstroke).

The key is having Nank/Cotchin/Prestia/Dusty fit at the business end. We break even in the middle and I'll back our defence to keep the opposition to a lower score than us.

I see we are 16/1 with some oddsmakers. Don't think we will be that price in 2 weeks time. With our best side on the park we are the 2nd best side in it. For now.

We are entirely dependent on fitness. Our best 22 is as good as (or better than) anyone's.

But we drop off exponentially with 2 or 3 critical injuries. Vlas and Grimes are two of those, and haven't been together all year (bar one game -that we won by 109 points).

Last Saturday surprised me. I thought it was a 50/50 game and perhaps we might have got over the line with the exuberance of Dusty returning. But realistically, we pumped them only to put the cue in the rack early.

Maybe we are a little better than I am giving credit for. I hope its true anyway. We are a decent shot of being 7-4 at the halfway point.

Yeh, when none of Tarrant/Ross/Dow/RCD/Stack/Parker and to a lesser extent Miller are in your best 22 you are putting out a strong lineup. If we are forced to play 3 or 4 of those guys we are a mid range side. (unless dusty explodes).

you're hoping for 7-4? We should be 18-4 at the end of the year. or maybe 17-5 cos the cats can be a hard side to beat in June/July (or any month that's not September.),

14 and 8 we are in finals but 5th to 8th
15 and 7 we are looking at top 4 but need % to be good
16 and 6 we are top 4

All possibilities in play, especially if we are 7 and 4 at the bye.

I must say I'm enjoying listening to Nathan Buckley's football analysis. Not just because he's said some positive stuff on us today but the way he explains things for nuff nuffs like myself is pretty enlightening.

Like many others on here, I've been pretty critical of him over the years but I put that down to my absolute hatred of the pies and not the man himself!

Anyway, I've time stamped the attached and I think Bucks reckons we can march on a little longer.
