2012 Draft Order

Re: Drafts and Trading 2012

I'd still argue that the mentality is more about giving them away than getting them, so I approach the trade period with nervousness.

I'd still argue with the points I made that that is absolute rubbish. Seems we haven't traded away a single top 50 pick since Dimma came. We have gained 2.

Maric was pick 37.

With 5 players off the main list; Moore, Connors, Webberley, MacDonald and Browne - would you think that spots will be filled at the moment by 3 draft picks and 2 FA players pending possible trades?

In addition to that apparently Whitey asking his manager to look at offers and the rumours that Post could be traded somewhere, plus McGuane may or may not be kept.

It seems like there will another fair influx of new players - especially with the club prepared to rookie senior players than take a punt with a young player that might take a long time to develop.

My mistake. Forgot because we gained a higher pick back. Which really makes the argument rubbish. And lets face it Maric for 37 was robbery.

Anyone know if you can get tickets to the draft? It's on the GC this year and I wouldn't mind having a look.

Don't assignd FA draft compensation picks fit in somewhere in the above list? They have to be used in the year they're received?

Yep. It's just a guide for now.

the lesson learned from post was that all his marks in juniors came from playing in the backline, reading the ball, that in fact he wan,t has good a mark has they thought,so raw stats dont always tell the tale, i,ve got faith that our recruiters do consider this amongst many other things, thus he vwoulds not have been picked has high in draft order by us currently

Fair call. IIRC didn't Post also play as an over ager in that draft year?

Hi TD,

I went to the draft on the GC a couple of years back (the first one held up there) - just rocked up and walked straight in, no tickets/questions asked - the radio were even asking people to come down and check it out. Not sure if still the same...
