"2009 Official PRE Draft thread'

Could we have a time to meet in the chat room to trash out a National Draft type format?

Get a few rounds per night done in a matter of an hour!

*Extra Time please Mr Demetriou*

Don;t panic Bobby - 2 hours will get it rolling a bit, cos is will force people to lodge preference lists - and if they don't - too bad. Besides DD needs enough time to decide between Fiora's and the Dawson's of this world - can't rush his important decisions.................

I draw the line there! Bloody chatrooms. :p

These posts are good enough to real time for all we need if we are all on together at a agreed upon time.

Anyone who thinks they need more help I am happy to rig up a electrocution device to their chair and shock them when they go off wandering to other threads or "sites".

There is still about 360 selections to do - even with the two hour rule it will probably still take 30 days - then there is the knock out comp to follow

Look at you come out of your shell....good boy!

Though i would suggest not using my jokes 15 posts after I made them ;D

Great to see you getting some confidence though Pharlap, I knew you had it in you. I knew telling you, you had a good idea or things to say would bring out your best. :rubhead

Must admit that my holiday time will come to an end tomorrow.

On Monday morning I'm committed to hosting a part of the VMCU U-Age Champs, then into the office at lunchtime, working through till about 9.30pm.
This'll continue.

I will have small gaps during the day to check this site but there will soon be long periods where I won't be able to check at all.

If one of the reserves want to take over from me, that's fine.
I'm very happy with my first two picks and can give directions to whomever follows.

A concentrated session in the evenings would help.
At the moment there is too much wasted time and mine has almost come to the end.

Well up to you Phantom, you know your situation best of course.

You can either stay in the progressment by sending a preference list to someone as your turns approach or you can drop out.

I don't think it would be fair for you to have influence over the person replacing you if you chose that path, you of all people know the importance of letting people do their jobs and no one interferring with their portfolios. I'm sure you wouldn't want Beck or Miller influencing our recruiting right now. ;D

Personally I hope you stay, it shouldn't be much effort for you to at least keep a updated prefence list. If you feel it is let us know asap so we have sufficent time to contact a reserve.

Thanks for the update.

Look I apologise if some think this isn't being run very well.

To be honest I didn't expect this to be a comp run over 1 - 2 weeks.

These drafts take a long time - You deliberately start with less of a time limit - then later on lower the time limit closer to the pre-season.

It was slow for xmas and ney years - to be expected.

most of, if not all of us are as regular as you get on this site, so most of us pop in numerous times daily. That to me says the 12 hour rule was taking it far enough - the comp doesn't have to end tommorrow.

Preference lists are the way to go anyway. Just give them to someone whos a lot of picks away from you who is regualr and says he will be on.

I get heaps of PM's - all it takes is all of us to help each other.

i'm in aniother draft comp which needs to finish by the pre season - we don't start 24 hour time limits to the 5th - no ones worried as we all are regualr.

If you are in this comp all it takes is popping on maybe a little more than usual, pm of your mates, hell even phone calls/texts.

its a bit disconcerting seeing the stress over how long its taking - when actually its goijg fairly normal to most of the comps like this.

just my rant.

No rant mate and your totally correct. It's all good.

I think the thing to keep in mind here is WHENEVER you get a bunch of people organised for the first time to do something you always have little teething problems with different peoples schedules and perceptions.

It's all good, don't stress u2. Some are new to this too and maybe not totally comprehending how long it takes to go through these drafts or experienced with the little twists of them.

I'm confident after these first few rounds everyone is going to be starkly aware of where we are at and there responsibilities. We will also have contingencies like time limits and preference lists to keep things going. It CAN'T slow down as we just keep steamrolling shortly.

All will be well mate, takes a mile to get everyone rowing in sync, then we shall be a dream team!

(Okay bad analogy but you got the drift. ;D )
