Agree. I hate Aldi.
Cheap crap filling the aisles. No brands. No bags. Line up forever at the 2 checkouts.
Their coffee machine is ok though.

I used to not like Aldi when they first opened. I tried them once and never went back. I think they've improved heaps. Also easier to shop there once you know their products. I couldn't shop there exclusively though.
I can't really tell the difference between Coles and Woolworths. Good range, good quality and good prices compared to our local supermarket.
If we're shopping in one of the biggies I'd choose Coles...FlyBuys gets them over the line. Love the free 6 bottles of wine every few months.

This is a major problem though Ian. It's too hard to get everything you want there.
If you want to save a few bucks by shopping in 2 places fine but for convenience and range I'd rather shop at the bigger stores.
Got plenty of mates who swear by Aldi though almost religiously. Take me a bit more to be converted though. ;D

And if we dont support more indepedent outlets, our kids will be in trouble employment wise, has from the early 1980,s onwards both coles and woolies grabbed more market share , employement use to be around 15% of sales, now its down around 4-5 % , less in some cases, and declining, the same sales with small business means more employment and many more locals doing well, use to work for both coles and woolies from 1980-2000( management), both equal bastards .

I wish Carrefour opened up here. Much better experience than any Aussie supermarket. Of the locals, I've changed from shopping at Woolies (Safeway dammit!) since they changed everyday rewards. I've been a few times since and spent roughly $500 and have 1 Woolworths dollar.
Our Coles nearby just opened and it's like an Aldi, not a lot of range.
I too go to lamanna fresh for fresh foods (meat n veg). Great quality, all local producers and it's none of the big two.

I was referring to the one at Essendon airport. You're right, the prices can be high there, but I've found the quality is OK.

I work at Coles (on customer service) so I may be a little biased but a woolworths store just opened up in our area, yet we've managed to keep most of our customers. From what we've heard its a mix of the new woolworths stores being too big to find anything, making it almost impossible to do a quick shop if in a hurry and terrible customer service.
