Welcome to Tigerland - Callum Moore

Baltas the interesting one isn’t he, there’s no doubt his clearly the most talented, I think the coaches are just going to do what’s best for his own development not so much what’s best for the AFL team right now, love to see him get a game soon.

GPS numbers could dictate this. He's a viable second ruck, but can he run out a game at AFL level? Does he have the nous and discipline to stick to our structures?

Looked a long way off AFL standard last night that's for sure.

One more week to redeem himself

I’m only guessing but I’d highly doubt it in a key forward/ ruck role, those blokes do a stack of bustling wrestling work besides just running. I’d also guess with the way we are managing the big kids that his tank would be a slow build, others would have much better idea then me however the games I’ve seen live I reckon Balta has had a lot of bench rotation time.

Our midfield was VFA standard against Port. I wouldn't be hanging the forwards.

Seymour was ok at times. He did give us a little glimpse of the elite hands and at last took and held front position. Just the once but that once was a sign of coaching and coachablity.

His chasing is nowhere near the level required but the coach is on this and we are good at development. Tank is an issue here. And intensity.

If you'd seen the bloke Fly started work on two years ago you'd be pretty happy even after the Port game.

Once his confidence is right you'll see that Callum Moore is elite by hand. A good short to mid-range field kick. And can jump over anybody. The long kicking has improved to bad.

Just on Mabs v Moore. Mabs has improved a lot in this department but he still lacks physical confidence. (Runs under the ball.) Seymour has not improved much in physical confidence. (He don't run nowhere.) Moore's confidence will come and then you will see a sublime athlete - with smarts in the hands.

I hope we give him another gallop. And that he chases. And takes front position.

I thought he was okay for his experience last night and saw his one handed marking attempts as being an instruction to get the ball to ground for the smaller boys to run onto.
Looks like a good mover and with more experience will be okay.

Was consistently pushed-out physically in marking contest and was completely shot by the end. Can’t have another display like that and stay in the team.

He'll be lucky to stay in the team after that effort. Yes he's young but you can still have an impact on the game. And he dropped a couple of really simple marks as well.

He might get another go this week but wouldn't surprise me to see him dropped.

With Rioli coming back in next week play him further up the ground where he can use his pace between the 50m arc and the centre.

Agree.
Should change his instructions from 'bring the ball to ground' to 'make sure you are not out marked'.
Made good position several times, got first hands to the ball, then seemed to be 'palming' the ball rather than attempting the mark.

Showing good signs.

I think he may be instructed to bring the ball to ground for our SFs to pounce on it. Hope not but looked that way. Would be dumb if so, first option for a KF must always to mark if he can, bring down if has little chance. Our game-plan under-rates marking, especially in F50 where it gives you ball control and possible viable goal-kick.

It's not as if opposition backs aren't sweating on our smalls at ground level by now. They're lining up for the group tackle. Every shot on goal Cal gets is still a good scoring chance.

Why would you instruct your second tall to not mark but bring the ball to ground?? That just gives the opposition defence a free hit with only the need to defend the drop of the ball and only fly one defender.

This shapes as a pretty big game in Cal's short career. He's had two games now. First one being good, second one he was underwhelming.
Really needs to stop jumping at the ball with one hand & really look to clunk his marks like we know he can.
He's been preferred over Towner who really pressed his case in the AFL. Cred to the coaches though for holding their nerve & giving a kid a good block of games.
Has talent, hopefully Seymore plays well.

Seymour has had 3 games Tooheys...first against the Aints when Jack got knocked out (he was serviceable), second against Bummers (which was good) and then a shocker v Port.

Cheers Brissie. Forgot about the Aints game. My bad. Must’ve had a concussion myself (or 1 beer too many last night). :p
Regardless it’s still a big game for the lad with plenty of conjecture on his selection over Towner.
Good luck to him he’ll need to grasp his opportunity.

He played against Sydney in Rd 23 2016, not against the Saints
