Welcome to Tiger land Riley Collier’Dawkins

our fringe players desperately need the VFL to start

last years scratch matches with reduced numbers

and preseason games this year aren't the same as full on games for points
and the week on week grind

our last two practice games sounded like they had a bit of heat in them …. the natives are getting restless

let them play

what are they waiting for?

Wonder why they offered him a new contract?
Because the club never expected him to come on in the first two years to be a starting 22 player. There was an expectation that he would take a while to get his body right, before he could be of use. COVID may have delayed that further (no idea), but you don't draft a "project player" then abandon them part way through the project.

Has an elite trick that will remain dormant unless he becomes a beast.

Can he play a role in the meantime?

Reckon he’s upset Dimma somehow.
They were raving about his preseason and then nothing. Something has changed.
Either that or it really is a positional issue.
You don’t lose your ability over night.
I lost mine gradually over 30 yrs

Hang in RCD.

No doubt the coaches have told you what they want of you.

Just keep on asking them what you need to do to get a game!

Not all young players make it. Nor are they guaranteed a game, especially in a Premiership team. I’ll back our footy dept in. They know what they're looking for in players. If that’s Riley good luck to him of course. If it’s someone else so be it. Tough game AFL footy.

With Higgins leaving the club last year and RCD struggling it puts a spotlight on our first round selections of late. Lucky we've made up for it with rookie picks.

Might be wrong but a bit of a concern when they arent been given a go ,

Dimma isnt afraid to throw kids in the deep end , we have seen that ,

unless the right role hasnt come up for him ?

To be fair, the 2018 draft wasn't much chop after the first round. The 2017 draft had a bumper 2nd round though, lot's of players ahead of Higgins on current form.

Hardwick is a pretty good judge of talent. He’s given kids like Bolton, Baker, Broad, Balta and Soldo early games on very little exposed form and subsequently been proven right. On the other hand he’s seemingly refused to play the likes of Miles, Menedue, Ellis, McJesus and now RCD even when they have at least in some cases, consistently dominated at VFL level.

To date, RCD hasn’t shown the AFL level traits that Hardwick talks about.

...His first instinct is to gather the ball and take on a player ... or change the way he plays by releasing the ball much quicker.
I've occasionally seen him using the ball more quickly, Harry, and he seems to have learned some of that. That's good. He's got coaches around him. If he has the footy IQ he'll learn to mix it up.

But, yeah. The game he brought to RFC was very underdeveloped. Even one-dimensional. Run at ball. Draw tackle, break tackle. Run. Use ball. (Dylan Shiel stuff but not as quick.)

RCD had a ripping VFL final breaking into space and hitting the goals. The big white sticks don't move. RCD knows where they are. Doesn't have to think.

If he plays forward he can start each attack on the ball with the simple plan - Run at ball. Get ball. Get clear goal shot. He starts his attack on the ball with a plan. He can see the big white sticks. Get a goal shot.

Riley is getting past by delisted player's and now by a kid that was picked up 8 weeks ago.
Riley might just be another Fiora.

Is named in the emergencies.
In a side thats has Martyn Mansell and Ross its perhaps reasonable that he is not playing tomorrow

RCD is starting to follow a well worn path to the seniors of some pretty handy former players in Shane Tuck and Nathan Foley They had to wait a long time even after racking up really good performances in the twos. Hope he turns out to be just as good as those two when he gets his chance
