I look at players like Riley , Martyn , Jack Ross , Ralphsmith and even Naish in 12 months and feel extremely confident that we now have the ready depth replacements if and when Edwards,Cotchin, houli and prestia are finishedIndeed.
When he was drafted it was universally agreed he was raw and needed games at VFL level first. Lost a year of that last year but STILL showed AFL traits last nite. Was still super close to breaking into a side that won its third flag in four years.
Feels like RCD could still be our point of difference in the midfield for a contender as a change up mid off the bench. Hope he gets 10-15 games this year. Generation changing stuff.
Such an entrepreneur! Selling tickets to a non-event. Stick to theatre, Bontague. Will they be selling tickets?
We have different views but not polarised. Just thought we could have taking a risk to expend one high pick on a future forward prospect. I posted about liking Connor Stone pre-draft but he went higher than initially expected (P.15) by 'experts' like Twomey. Another one that garnered a lot of interest on PRE was Hollands but was way out of reach. But Brayden Cook still there at pick 25. There are signs that O. Henry will make a player, but we won't be able to say any of these draftees are definite success stories for years to come, But it's not renewing our FL that puzzles me. Not too worried about re-blooding our midfield with the talent drafted for there.Reference to paying out wasn't in dollar terms, it was in paying out picks or players to creep up the draft in a year when there was so much uncertainty regarding the crop of kids coming into last years draft.
Personally don't rate the other Henery that highly, maybe this ones a bit better, maybe he's not.
More than comfortable with the way the club have looked to give the youngsters on hand some room to grow n develop by not overcrowding the squad of potential up n comers while also locking in a strong draft hand for the end of this year.

Other clubs are really investing in recruiting/developing tall forwards - e.g. Brisvegas and Bummers. Might be seen as a way to overcome our superior backline, which lacks a KPD over 196 cm. Or maybe won't work, but even smilin Cox is marking and goaling against us last 2 outings.
The praccy games FWIW have not allayed my concerns re our FL effectiveness. We allow teams back into the game that should be put to the sword with a lot of farting around, over-possessing up there, wasted opportunities. Would struggle with a LT injury to JR8 or Lynch, probably having to shift Balta down there. Chol has the skills but lacks the fire in the belly.
But that's what most coaches do once we get on top of them. Longmuir did after about 10m last year. Dimma has to find a way to combat it. Boring as hell but maybe just play keeps-an-off in our backline - treat it with the same contempt?Didn't help that Buckley employed the flood
Stocker will be a bust. No defensive side and poor endurance. Our team didn't rate him at all.Looks like the blues shot themselves in the foot again trading up to grab Liam Stocker thinking they had trumped us. RCD looks like he will be ready to explode with a bit more experience. Showing great signs recently. Haven't heard anything about Stocker and not getting a look in at a very average club. Could be a bust lol.
Sorry but none of the kids look anywhere near the same level as Cotch etc at the same age.I look at players like Riley , Martyn , Jack Ross , Ralphsmith and even Naish in 12 months and feel extremely confident that we now have the ready depth replacements if and when Edwards,Cotchin, houli and prestia are finished
Nothing wrong with our fwd line if you understand the reasoning behind it.We have different views but not polarised. Yeah. ... he's a fan! Great to hear Balmey and his calming tone on radio..... *smile* they even used his correct title when 99% of the football media still refer to him as our GM of football, which I find a little disrespectful to the blokes who actually have held the position/s for over a year!Balmey on SEN this morning said the player he looked forward to seeing get a go this year was Riley.
Never seen 'reasoning' kick a goal yet, Dud.Nothing wrong with our fwd line if you understand the reasoning behind it.
Cotchin was a #2 draft pick and champion junior player and its not expected that these players will be at that level at the momentSorry but none of the kids look anywhere near the same level as Cotch etc at the same age.

But in 12 months time these kids will improve and get stronger and cotchin will get older and probably injured more
Nobody is comparing them to the prime of cotchins career but more replacing him in 12 months time
Different people and so different learning curves. Have hopes that most will make it this year now we have VFL up and running again for their developmentSorry but none of the kids look anywhere near the same level as Cotch etc at the same age.
Elite????AFL preseason: Stocks up, stocks down
The AAMI Community Series is done and dusted, so it's time to see whose stocks are up and whose are down heading into the 2021 AFL season.www.espn.com.au
Breakout contender: With reports during the 2020 off-season that Riley Collier-Dawkins was pushing Trent Cotchin around at stoppages, his natural improvement seems to have continued and he is looking ready for AFL play. Collier-Dawkins is a potent stoppage player but brings with it class and athleticism. Against Collingwood, he looked lively and like he would make something happen every time he got his hands on the football. It's unclear whether he starts in Round 1, but once introduced into the senior team, he is talented enough to hold his spot.
