Welcome to Tiger land Riley Collier’Dawkins

Didn’t Dipper play 99 in the twos prior to debuting?
Wikipedia says he played 99 reserves games, aoc, but it also says he debuted as a 17-year-old (his only game in his first three years at Hawthorn). Before my time, but my first memories of him were as an in-and-out of the side back flanker, before he flourished into a Brownlow wingman.

just ahead of Libba, Wowowden, Mitchell and Neale as a brownlow medalist IMHO

I think Tucky Snr player 100 odd seconds games for the Hawks before becoming a senior regular.

They were known for making the youngsters put their time in back then were the Hawks

Harsh.

50, craig. Still plenty.

Cheers Spooker.

I think Andy Collins was another who spent some time in the reserves before breaking into the ones also, but I might be mistaken.

Had a shoulder issue during that heavily condensed period of games, was well in line for a debut up until that point.

Some of the body language experts here are hilarious. RCD is a very laid back, laconic, individual off field.

That being said, Essendon are 100% sniffing.

Didn‘t Dimma actually come out and say RCD would debut over the coming weeks before the injury?

Reckon he would’ve got the Dow minutes. He’s tracking fine, tallish mids take longer, was always going to be a 3-4 year project.

RCD gave an interview at the start of the year where he said was annoyed and disappointed at not getting a go last year so can only imagine that being exacerbated this year.

Michael Tuck played 50 reserves games and 5 senior games in his first three years. Shane Tuck didn't debut until he was 22. Nathan Buckley was playing SANFL at RCD's age, albeit winning a Magery Medal. Ablett Sr debuted at 20 and had played 6 games by the age of 22, although that was temperament-related. Tony Modra was 23 when he debuted, again probably temperament. Kane Lambert was 23 before he even got drafted. There are stacks upon stacks of players who have had great careers despite not debuting before they were 21.

In a normal year, RCD would probably have got a game. But no VFL means he hasn't played a proper game since the VFL grand final, which he was pretty good in.

He's a late developer. Let's have a look at him in March.

Finally some sense!

As posters mentioned when RCD was drafted, he's a 3-4 year project in the making. With reduced lists next season this somewhat complicates this type of planning at all clubs but given his upside I trust the club will give him another 1-2 year(s) extension to his contract.

Still probably not fit enough nor grown into his body (grew 8cm in less than a year as a junior) to play regular senior footy and was injured at the point of nearly debuting. The wait will teach him character and a zeal he may not have had without having to earn his spot.

His style and height/big body is a much needed commodity in the team and will bring great value once his potential is exhausted.

That is pretty disappointing in my opinion. Ok to be disappointed but to be annoyed is ridiculous, the club does not owe him games, he needs to earn it which admittedly is difficult in our established side but he is not owed games and should have to earn them.

RCD never once said he was annoyed, just disappointed. Posters like to put their own spin on things just to suit the narrative

I think if you asked any player if they were annoyed and disappointed at not getting more games 100% of them would say “yes”.
