PREnders are being hard on Short at times. He is not the toughest player around but has good attributes that generally fit into our game plan. Added to which he is improving all the time
My boy is flying. Zinging the pill at will. And a sharper edge. Has stood under packs coming, flew into contest with intent and finding time in traffic. Along with Baker they have become spring boards that keep pushing to the attacking side of the wings and get the ball deep. Super pick as a rookie.
Always have been, same with Houli- don’t understand the game beyond “backs tackle, Forwards kick goals’. Not even worth in engaging in debates with people ragging on Short, it’s like arguing politics with a Trump supporter.
Knew he was playing well, but didn't realise how well he was going. If he keeps it up he's a smokey for AA in 2025, given how that committee works.

Someone questioning some aspects of shorts game is like being a trump supporter. Righto.
In the sense that those people don't seem to understand either the game or high-performance sports, yep. For instance:
"He's been going well the last month, apart from his fear of tackling. I reckon though when your playing in the best backline in the comp and you're job is designated kicker, your going to be pretty up there in the metres gained stat."
Not sure where to start. He's not the best tackler. No *smile*. It's almost as if that's not his job. As you said yourself, his job is distribution. Tackling is a vague requirement of any player's role, but it's well down the list in his case. He's no. 1 for metres gained, and you're suggesting that's mainly the result of the defenders around him? I'm sure it doesn't hurt, they no doubt give him some extra time, but it's more the game style we play that results in this stat, and his ability to meet the requirements of his role in that style. If he can't kick and run, we have a problem, otherwise, we're chipping a guy for things that simply are not important to his role, and that point, who gives a *smile*?
Of course he's job is tackling, he's a football player. I realise it's not the role he plays, but you still have to be accountable when it's your time to go. As far as his metres gain stat, if tackling is not his job, this certainly is. He's a designated kicker coming out of the backline, of course your going to be right up there in this stat.
Anyway, I don't understand why your getting so exited about this. You've labeled me a trump supporter and said I don't understand the game, simply cos I have different views to you on a player. Why can't you argue your point without being condescending.
Fair enough, didn't mean to be condescending, but yeah, probably was. Apologies. Just tired of the sniping on some guys - not really your post but a buildup. Let's move on to Port, it's a challenging game.
I think that was after Farrell missed. A designated kicker. I said to myself, ok designated kicker, your turn. Role, moment, delivered, by both Shorty and his polar opposite Kmac.
Interestingly Vlaustin and DES seem to take a lot of the kick outs , may have just been wrong timing, however id much rather Short kicking out to Vlaustin then the other way around. Playing very consistent footy is Short, with Houli coming back can only help Shorts game.
