Welcome Oliver Hayes-Brown

Towner was from Leeton not Lismore
Very definitely a league town with a rules team that’s main role was to make up the numbers
Ahhh. Knew it was up there somewhere that's why the ? Plenty of those Riverina type country towns play a mix of Aussie rules n Rugby league, been plenty of elite players for both sports come from that area. Bloody surprised that bugger all of the clubs bother looking at 21 to 24 year olds that maybe don't quite make it at League who have a junior background in Aussie rules for Cat B rookies. Basket ball pelicans, Cricketers, Gaelic, Septics, but rarely League players.

The distance between Leeton and Lismore is over 1,000kms. Takes longer to drive between those two towns than it does Melbourne to Sydney

Point is anywhere above Sydney is predominately Rugby League territory.

The biggest reason why most league players wont make AFL players is the handballing and kicking skills. Very few league players learn to kick and most definitely do not learn to kick with either foot. Handballing is a mystery to most of them.. Karmichael Hunt would have been one of the few that had the skills to make the jump but he is a rare example

Riverina League is the crossover point of Aussie Rules and Rugby, below this is 95% Aussie rules above it is 40% Aussie Rules.

If you ask someone in Wagga where the footy ground is you could get sent to the Soccer , Union, League or an Aussie Rules ground.

Yep Leeton is a strong afl area

In a rare common-sense move, the AFilthL has granted OH-B and fellow Cat B rookie Melbourne's Kyah Farris-White permission to play in the Ammos to help their development. Ollie will play for Old Ivanhoe.
Thanks for this news @spook. Old Ivanhoe was the first club I played at many many moons ago. I often watch their home games. I should be able to provide some reports on how OH-B is travelling. He should stand out in B Section VAFA.

Geez. Most Aussie rules players can barely use their non preferred in disposing of the pill.
Harmichael was elite for League, barely adequate for Aussie rules. Simply a massively paid failed promotional tool to try n lure some fans to a start up team.
Towner grew up playing both games and while not an elite player, managed an elite period in 2017 that helped us crack a massive premiership drought. Wasn't much wrong with his goal kicking skills at the time.
Liftmykiltup has managed the transition from young fringe League player to VFL and now senior AFL list player over the last few years, still got a heap of developing and improving to do but he's also providing some fun n interesting moments within the game, also appears to have some pretty decent kicking skills.
There's absolutely no reason at all that some youngsters who've played both sports at junior level couldn't step up and become reasonable Aussie rules players with a couple of seasons of development work under the Cat B system. Irish blokes who's transition from Gaelic to Aussie rules would be the simplest have gone on to be elite players. Soldo played basket ball, Cox played soccer n maybe some other sports n both transitioned to decent Aussie rules careers.
