Welcome Liam Baker

Heart and soul player. A player that helps build culture. Can see why WA clubs are chasing hard. Will hurt to lose him but will not begrudge him if he chooses to go. Will always be loved.

Will be disappointed however if the RFC does not negotiate strongly…!

Spot on AT.
Don't understand why we have to be so easy to deal with.
Happens every Trade/Draft period.
Time for the Tiger claws to come out.

His price tag is reportedly $1.3 million. Too outside and just not good enough for that kind of money. Classy outside player, no doubt.

Just thinking if our offer to Baker is around $750K or higher but he chooses more at West Coast and then Dusty does retire at the end of the year then his contract amount plus what we would have paid Baker = thereabouts the money being talk about McCluggage

I don't think we should consider high priced free agents for the next 2-3 years. Hit the draft, work our way back up the ladder, be an attractive place for free agents to consider then go shopping.

Re-jig and front load a few contracts so we have cash to burn in 2-3 years.

Can't see McCluggage choosing the RFC, if he leaves he will choose a contender or team on the rise.

FMD. Suitcases to be our highest paid player in 2025. I'll be retiring my membership if our list management gets that bad.

Spent a year in Brisbane went to every game at the Gabba No way is he worth 1.3
Hope some else pays that for him

Tend to agree in most cases and there is no chance McCluggage picks a club that isn't potentially going for finals.

The ones I'd potentially look at if our salary starts creating a big opening, is someone like LDU from North. Would suit us perfectly, and may well want a change of scenery if North don't start to show some signs of improving. Personally reckon there drafting hasn't been the best, they've drafted all mids and neglected talls at both ends of the ground, hence why their list balance is completely warped. Tristan Xerri and Andrew Brayshaw could be other options in that age bracket as free agents.

Hate to see Bakes go. Love him. But. If the touted money on offer of $1m (potentially +) are true and we are more around the $750k pa. Then an extra $1.25m to him to go home is pretty damned attractive.

Stay at Tiges? He is 26 at the moment. Are we in the window for a flag in his remaining playing days? At the moment probably not.

Go to Freo. Gets back to WA and pockets more money for his trouble. Freo are in better shape for a crack at the flag in the next 4-5 years than we are.

We have a number of picks available in the draft now. Looks like an earliesh pick on our own. Freo will have to cough up something decent for a dual premiership player who has plenty of miles left in the tank. The draft will potentially be compromised to help Tassie pretty soon. So we need to get young talent in before that happens.

Very plausible that he will be heading home. Yze has said he won’t stand in his way if he decides to go back to WA. Think the Clubs will sort something out to everyones satisfaction if he states he wants to go.

Way to test his mettle. Tough gig being an afl coach. Adversity tests the best of people. Will it strengthen his resolve?
You cant ask players to do the hard yards if you don't have it in you to do the same.

I believe whatever is thrown his way he will handle it and just get on with the job. Coach’s can’t bemoan what they’ve got no control over.
As long as he has board support and the member/supporter base are realistic to know where we are.
No false dawns. Just deal with the cards we’re dealt and do the best we can
You couldn’t have a better educated supporter base on what it realistically takes to win multiple flags. People should get when the list doesn’t have that elite end what it means.****

**** except during game day threads

McNoway.
He is excalty the player we don't need.

We need a Butters Roseee Bompmytelly Sneezel Wardlaw types.
Yeah but if taken as a free agent what’s the harm ? You would imagine our salary cap will be under no pressure so load up on free agents & draft out next Rozee Wardlaw types
