That's pretty funny Ian, I voted nearly the same way but with Family First in last place for me.

You too? Pretty much what did. Was voting at the Aussie Embassy in Dublin and made the girls day, she'd been studying the electoral map and wondering if she'd get to write down Batman.

Indi is beacon to the way the system can be used "against" the party machine. Unfortunately so is the probable election of the Motoring Enthusiasts but at least that's only the Senate. I try hard not prject a person's public persona onto their private persona. Sophie comes across very poorly but that doesn't mean she is a "bad" person and I wouldn't endorse the language that was often used to vilify Gillard being slung at Mirabella. I hope that she and her collegues reflect on the way she is percieved and how it garnered what might be an historic swing against a sitting member.

Good luck to Cathy in Indi, the hard work starts now.

i'd say sophie had such a swing against her for her results, or more specifically lack thereof, for our electorate rather than judgements on her public persona.

i like the way cathy didn't nominate preferences, although it could have cost her, because she didn't want to be seen to be aligned with any party. i reckon she'll go well. a decent, humble, approachable and committed community person. it will be interesting to follow her next 3 years. very happy to have this independent woman representing me.
