Trent West

The cats just signed Dawson Simpson to a two year contract, so at the moment they have five rucks on their list.

Calling Blake soft is not only unfair, it is crap. OK he can't mark, none of our ruckmen can, he can't kick, ditto. What he can do is give our mid field an arm chair ride, none of our ruckmen can do that either. He is on the market and a proven AFL ruckman. Go for him. Draft late and rookie some big kids.

I agree Monty, with a late draft/rookie pick we could get him and I would.
He is a good tap ruckman.
We need that badly.

Sorry Monty but I completely disagree. If Blake was any sort of a ruckman he would be in the cats team before West, Vardy etc. he is not worth the risk and imo he is soft. At least Gus tries. Blake is & will continue to be a liability. The only reason he is on the cats list, is because he was a father son pick. Dad was a good player so maybe the son will be, as we all know, it doesn't always work out that way.

Blake is a better tap-ruckman that West which is why for most of the season in the VFL, Blake was in the ruck, Simpson was on the bench and West and Vardy played forward. Blake isn't in the team because Ottens is and because he has had surgery. Vardy can play forward and is fighting for Hawkins spot as the ruck/forward. No one thinks Blake is anything other than a tap ruckman which is why he has been shown the door and why he will be cheap. But for our situation a guy who compete at the stoppages is an upgrade even if he does nothing around the ground.

Blake is the second coming of Trent Knobel.

But Trent Knobel would have played 20 games this year, he was brought in as understudy to Simmonds - no Simmonds to keep Graham out of the team.
