The posts on this forum are getting worse its as if 2017 and 2018 didn't happen. Im 55 years old I've seen be the first side to finish 13 have a worse finals record than Fitzroy even after they had been out of the competition for 25 years. We now are a powerhouse on and off the field carrying some injuries and the rabble hear want a rebuild want to sack the coach trade Cotchin burn down the grandstand and start a delivery of chicken manure. Please get a grip even if we loose to Adelaide we are 7 and 6 with 9 to play (8 games at the G) and everyone other than Rance to come back. I made the mistake in 2016 to go rabid and it will be one of my enduring regrets im not going to make the same mistake again and I urge you all to be constructive as opposed to fatalistic

What the *smile* did we do in the preseason?

I commented about the lack of sessions we did. It seemed odd that the players had more days off than they had on.

Yes he will be at risk with his unique style at gathering ground balls. Happy for the club to be extra cautious.

Damn, I say again i would've been more than happy for the club to be extra cautious.
There was the perfect opportunity to train him up to be 100% after the bye.

There's fitness and match fitness. I wouldn't be at all surprised if this was planned. Come back for 2 matches then a couple of weeks break again. Our high performance dept have so many runs on the board that they deserve to be given the benefit of the doubt.

I noticed this too. We seemed to start late, were last back after xmas etc

and Grigg & Edwards & Houli. Great that we have some quality kids coming through because the core group is showing signs of wear & tear.

The rebuild is on.

Cotchin (29)/Rance (29) /Reiwoldt (30) /Houli (31) /Edwards (30)

You look at the Hawks 3 peat in 2013/2014/2015 - they had

Brian Lake (14 & 15) was 32/33
Sam Mitchell - 30/31/32 (33 in Oct 15)
Josh Gibson - 29/30/31
Luke Hodge - 29/30/31
Burgoyne - 30/31/32 (33 in Oct 15)

All played key roles in those flags.

Cotchin/Rance/Reiwoldt/Edwards can/will all play key roles in the next 3 years. To talk about a rebuild is stupidity at its finest.

Lets hope so, because he's rising 30, and hamstrings especially at that age need to be very carefully managed.

Everyone's intrepid reporter is reporting Capt might miss more than this week.
Even after the bye, let's see if Capt takes him on like JR did.

Why risk him last week to give him a week off then the bye? Play him this week and give him the week off.

Strange management. Concerning.

Here are some stats on some key hawks flag winners in their 3 peat years as far as games played in those years.

Brian Lake (14 & 15) was 32/33
Only played 11 games in 2014 & 22 Games in 2015

Sam Mitchell - 30/31/32 (33 in Oct 15)
Played 24/16/24 games in GF years

Josh Gibson - 29/30/31
Played 24/17/25 games

Luke Hodge - 29/30/31
Played 23/22/21 games

Burgoyne - 30/31/32 (33 in Oct 15)
Played 23/25/26 games

No player played in every game of those premiership years. The Hawks had 26 games in 13 & 14 and 27 games in 2015.

They were all missing from multiple games yet were all key finals players. The key was being fresh coming into finals. The hawks finished 1st/2nd/3rd in the flag years.

In 2012 Gibson missed 4 games, Mitchell 2 games, Burgoyne 2 games, Hodge 14 games and Lake 3 games. So none of them were playing every game in the preceding years nor in the premiership years.

There is no reason our guys can't be key components in the next 3 seasons. None have had injury plagued careers so no need to pension them off just yet.

2014 is a decent comparison. The Hawks were hit hard by injuries and used 34 players to Round 12; we've used 36. They had 8 players who'd played every game; we have 5.

By the GF, Gibson had played 16 games, Mitchell 15, Stratton 14, McEvoy 12, Rioli 11 and Lake 10.

Just need an injury hiatus so we can start building some momentum.

Cotchin was moving house today, not sure his injury is as bad as it seems.
We are resetting for the 2nd part of the year. Let’s wait & see
