On the last page there's a link to a guide for playing the Romans. Seems to be that to start off with you want to build all your resources up to level 3.

buildings :MB level 2 and a cranny

resources :
Lumber: 30 per hour
Clay: 36 per hour
Iron: 26 per hour
Crop: 6 per hour

you seem to be doing pretty well too duckman.
 
I'm stalling now though. No resources to keep upgrading and like you I'm not fuckn paying for it lol.
 
Do i have to upgrade one by one, or can I do it all in one shot. It says my workers are busy. can I set it so they start upgrading when the previous upgrade is finished?
 
Is it best to upgrade all fields equally or should some have priority?

You have to have a plus account (that you pay $2 for or something) to queue up your upgrades. I wouldn't bother though, soon enough you'll run out of resources and only be able to build when they replenish, which can take a couple of hours or more. Best to upgrade all your resources fairly equally apparently and make sure you never run out of crops.

duckman.I think once we get a market place we'll be able to trade with guys like Braddles who are putting money in if we need gold.

I was planning to build a few and do a bit of raiding when my resources are around level 3. Can't wait.
 
I think it means you have 18 lots of crops and your people are eating 11 of them as they're produced.

I've got some little dweeb threatening to farm my village, saying if I don't set up a marketplace and send him my resources he's going to "farm me relentlessly".

So I've set up my cranny and will slowly upgrade it, he'll get nothing from me as I plan on being active enough that I'll never have that many resources anyway. Also being Romans and able to build one resource and one building at the same time (plus another of either at the same time thanks to my gold) he'll find that I grow a lot more quickly than his pitiful little Gaulish village (no offence K3 ;)).

This kid's gonna be in for a big shock once we set up properly, and I believe we should make "mikehunt" (53|-21) our first military target.
