Training

thanks for the report big C.

Its good to concentrate on the footy. I,d bet that our team will be ready.
Without a reserves comp it will be interesting to see who can push into the 22 - Ross RCD Mabs Balta Naish Criminal-Jones
All these juniors missing development and a chance to showcase. Next to no chance for 1st year debuts.
Guys like KMac are better placed

@caesar or @Stig ...... how was Dennis Rodman actually looking fitness wise?
All for the individuality etc. that Stacky brings, just hoping he's not gonna lose the focus that makes him special!
Also wondering if you spotted Higgo?

Was down at the ground for a walk this morning around 9am for around 20 minutes

Training in a group of 8

Cotch
Prestia
Soldo
Caddy
McKintosh
RCD
Graham
Marcov

3 drills whist I was there. Fairly light on

1st drill Kick out from full back to a flank, handball to player running in on the angle and then snap for goal

2nd Drill linking handballs at forward flank with last handball to the player running into 50 and shot on goal

3rd Drill Handball drill in the middle of the oval around 6-8 stationary post playing dummies with all 8 players linking handballs whilst on the move.

Notable

RCD - Massive kegs on the kid. Didn't initially recognise him as he has shaved down to crew cut. Upper body still needs some work to match

Caddy still has the weight off so looks to be continuing the additional running during games

Skills good to scratchy

Everyone looked in good nick.

What about Macca? Yeah Yeah me thinks, he hasn't had a thatch like that in years!

I'm surprised more hasn't been made of it. I can't believe the lads wouldn't be all over him about it. Also surprised it hasn't come up on the Talking Tigers podcast who like to engage in a bit of jovial Kamdyn play

Nothing was ever mentioned about Griffin's hair hanging on against all odds.

So were any of the assistants let go?

Thought I knew, now I am unsure as i have seen all of Dimma, Leppa, Fly, Macqualter, Kingsley, X, Ferguson and Lonegran in the last 2 days taking some training.
The last 3 i initially thought had been stood down.

In all seriousness, if we could still afford to keep them, why not,?
Not every company has gone belly up, have a look at bunnyings.
The soft cap should be an amount, say 5 million and the club decides how to spend it.
Hardwick on 500,000 k
Leppa on 250,000k
The 3 other assistants on 120k
And the rest spread between the physio's, doctors, trainers etc

If they've all been kept on that's great news and a smart decision by the club. It shows their value to the footy department and the players who would have built up relationships with them and who would have been unsettled if some of them had been let go. The players have been unsettled enough as it is, so if we have the money to keep them it maintains a happy group which is critical for success.

If I was stood down from Richmond, I'd keep going in.

as in ....... if you leave me, can I come too?

It's great that a lot of the coaching staff have kept their jobs. It would be good if they have all agreed to take a pay cut allowing for all the coaching and conditioning staff to stay in their roles.

I thought the AFL had capped numbers though, so it wasn’t just a monetary issue?

You are correct, this year it is more about reducing football department numbers to reduce chance of covid outbreaks, hopefully next year clubs will have more flexibility and they will be able to employ as many people as they can fit into the soft/hard cap which will be reduced by about a third, or 3.5 million dollars, to about 6 mill.
