Training For Redemption in 2022

You need to pay more attention to MRJ's rapid development i.e. VFL highlights recently: the usual reading of the play; speed and run-down tackling; the goal-sense and sharp-shooting abilities; the unselfish sharing of the ball with a team-mate in better position; has added high marking to his CV; can go into the midfield successfully (at least at VFL level).

I think he could well become a better all-round player than Pickett, without the arrogance. Still only a kid.
I have to admit he's surprised me this yr, still probably needs more VFL games under his belt but would be deserving of an AFL call up should it come about. Could be a great Sub candidate atm.

Yeah that's awesome.
Can't wait. MRJ is going to be a gem
Still would like Kosi as well though!

Gotta remember the lack of vfl has stalled young players, especially those coming from way back NT league that really needed that step up to vfl to get some development into them , he’s now getting that continuity and looks to have the tools to be an asset to us in F50,,,exciting

Wasn’t really sure where to park this one.
Went to the open session with the young bloke today.
Event positives- even though notice said no signings due to COVID, the players were around the boundary at the end chatting with all and signing.
Negative- Jack n Cotch seemed to vanish when the signing pens appeared… that was a bit of a “really?!?” Moment.
Training stuff… fairly stock basic drills
Items of interest… for the speccy bags, JR was full hands on bag to get any height, Balta was pure clean leap… hands not so much.
Sonsie stood out… solid kid for age, very clean kicks…would never pick as a first year.
Parker is a stick insect identifying as a human… never realised his build
MJ when no pressure does freakish things… outside of foot, reverse spinning goals… has some tricks. Did still look a bit unsure mixing with the big boys.
Good day, good weather, ok crowd… really good to see players mixing with supporters again.

Perfect place to park it, thx for the report :)

He looks just as small as ever to me. Noticeably shorter than Stack, who is listed as 177.

Tell you what, we'll get a shot of the two Riolis next to each other soon, maybe this week during the anthem, maybe at Dreamtime. If and when that shows MoJu to still be shorter, you are banned from speculating that a player has grown or could grow ever again. ;)

Deal?

MRJ> Height: 179 cm
Thats what the RFC website says and they are usually conservative but on this occasion looks different

Just some players to take note of that are around the same height
Leigh Mathews 178 cm
Maurice Rioli snr 176cm
Lachie Neal 177cm
Greg Williams 176cm
Shai Bolton 175cm

If you are good enough size is not an issue

Caleb Daniel 168cm. Wasn't Paul Callery 163cm?

The boys training today? Very keen to see if Dusty is there, and Lambert.

@caesar any idea, are you heading down?

Hi @RobsJourney the boys had post game 40 minute warm down only session at 1:30pm today so nothing to be drawn from it except Dusty was out there with the main group.

Being a 5 day break there will be only one serious session this week which will be tomorrow most likely 10:30am.

Cheers
