Training For Redemption in 2022

If you can do it Snags.
I know it’s hard in Winter but with anything once you do it another of times it becomes easier to handle the feeling of discomfort.
I'm in Abu Dhabi it never gets that cold. The differential would be nasty in Summer. We have chilled water systems otherwise we'd have boiling water coming out of the cold taps. So it could be up to 50degc outside and <5degc coming out of the tap. My balls just disappeared into my guts thinking about it!

Cold showers swimming in cold water and ice baths are known to increase immunity.

Scandinavians of old and Vikings were said to leave babies in the cold for short periods to toughen them and strengthen them.
Have the Scandinavians ever heard of shrinkage?

Also the weak babies would die thereby keeping the village strong

*snip*
By who, and to what?
Waaaaaay back in 1996...

Extract from, abstract...

It was concluded that the stress-inducing noninfectious stimuli, such as repeated cold water immersions, which increased metabolic rate due to shivering the elevated blood concentrations of catecholamines, activated the immune system to a slight extent. The biological significance of the changes observed remains to be elucidated.

It's interesting, but I'm not sure what that means for immunity. Elevated levels of white blood cells doesn't necessarily mean healthier.

Having a look myself, it seems that there's some other low quality evidence that it reduces incidence of illness.

Might be a useful placebo.

People ask me Stackey and the simple answer I give is ‘ I don’t know but just do”!

Everyone says I’m nuts….

I have bad news for you, I never get colds or flu but I always have hot showers and never had an ice bath in my life

Ross was by far the best mid in the 2's last week and would offer more than Edwards at the moment.

Looks like
In- Lynch, Lambert, Ross
Out - Dusty, Soldo, Edwards.
Ross prob should come in for Clarke , only 1 of him and mrj required

An uncle told me over 50 years ago (god rest his soul), to never have the water too hot when having a shower, and to always finish the shower with cold water.
He was my hero and I've taken his advice ever since.
:))
I think he was taking the *smile* and would be quietly chuffed you've kept doing it.

Thanks BT
Yeah I'm similar to you Waiting. I follow a cold water method that a guy called Wim Hoff promotes. I go to the beach about 4 or 5 times a week and have cold showers. Hasn't done me any harm and it actually challenges you and puts you out of your comfort zone. Family and friends think I'm crazy.

Dusty a sight for sore eyes at training today:cool:

Tarrant has had his operation, hand heavily padded and tapped, looked like the pinky and ring finger isolated and strapped together in some sort of splint.
Looks like a boxer strapped up for a fight.
Surely misses at least a couple of weeks?
Not ideal with Balta possibly out for 5 or 6?, (only basing my opinion on that it is a repeat of the injury in which he had a 4 week break so usually means longer 2nd time round).

Miller time?

Back him in, he can do it IMO.
