Trades, Draft picks, list changes 2019

He gets so little of the ball Mr P. That’s my concern with him.
Miller is contracted until 2020. He is a tall with speed. His value can’t be properly evaluated yet.
Grigg has gone to be replaced by Picket which I believe will still counts as one delisting?
We now have 38 players, but can have 40.
As I understand it this means we don’t have to delist anymore players until after the trade period, the second Delist.
A minimum of Butler Ellis McIntosh Markov and Moore are likely to be offered. Which is very good planning as all 38 currently on our list do have value.

Pickett has been been signed on a rookie contract evidently which means we need to reduce by one rookie but have Grigg’s main list spot open.

Fairly sure the club needs to make 3 selections at this year's draft. These can include up graded rookies. So at least three more changes to the list.

So that’s good. Do we know if the fact that we have 38 rather than 40 on the list counts for the other two vacancies we are required to create before the trade period?

Can't imagine a better hand in history than what we currently hold... 42 cards not 1 with no value!!!!

Yeah I lose it there. Leave it to the list analysers on this site. All I know is that we can have 44 players plus academy and category B rookies and a minimum of 38 and a maximum of 40 on the senior list.
Where we now I am not quite sure.

We have him on a rookie deal for just one year. Then the Perth clubs will come knocking with cheque books open for the next Tim Kelly.

With a family of 4 having to move to Melbourne we really should get him a longer-term contract with more money on the main list. His body will be relatively young for his age. He could be another Burgoyne. We need to give him what he needs and make Tigerland his long-term home.

You have to think he’ll have a fair bit of loyalty to a club that picked him when no one would, drew him in like family and debuted him in a grand final l. He strikes me as someone who values these things

Bobble likely to go and give the RFC some cap relief.

Carlton probably wont want Butler if they get Papley and Martin and Betts, who else can we flog him off to??

Grover is no given to remain at the RFC in 2020 either as of right now and the events of the past 6 weeks could get his head turned.

Menadue and Markov also should be on the table.

We have to clear some salary out.

Grigg Weller, and Towner will be the others to leave.

Current draft picks 18, 36, 37, 70, 72, 90.
free agency. We were into crouch, now that we have found Ross & Pickett I think that option has been torched.
Players leaving. Ellis to GC. Compensation pick in return. Maybe pick 19.
Delisting. Moore, Menadue,
Trades. Bulter, McIntosh Markov
Retirees. Sir Grigg & Weller
It's now pick 19, not 18

Marlion said something along the line that he will only ever play AFL for the Richmond Football Club because they gave me the chance and showed faith in him when no one else did.

That was music to my ears.

The club has done a bit of work getting his family over and setting them up etc.

Marlion was emphatic when he said that he is a Tiger and wont be anything else.

Yep, and I reckon he will keep to that statement. But I also reckon that he plays next year as that would be his contract and then, assuming he plays well, we offer him enough to set him up for life and support his family.

We dont lose.
He will be 29 at the start of 2021.
If freo comes we will trade him for a 22 year old.
There are no guarantees in footy.
The GF could be the best game he plays for us.
We should just be happy we saw him play like that.

The one who could be that in terms of ability is Harley Bennell. Still massive question marks over his fitness of course.
Someone will pick him up imo, probably the same pathway we used to get Sydney stack.
Dimma was actually asked on Sunday if we were a possibility and he said unlikely but never say never

No way would I go after Bennell.

Surprised to see how far Dan Butler's stocks have fallen.

His career numbers are scarily similar to Tom Papley's, yet the latter seems to be considered a much more valuable proposition.

Same age, height, weight and role.

Papley marginally more potent in terms of scoreboard impact -- Butler averages 1.2 goals per game and Papley 1.5 but both are rated elite for goal assists and above average for I50s.

Butler the better defensive player, averaging more tackles I50 and more tackles overall.

Plus, there are the intangibles. Butler a premiership player and comes from the league's best culture. His VFL finals series was pretty darn good, too.

Underachieving outfits like North Melbourne, Melbourne, Essendon and Gold Coast (not to mention Sydney if Papley leaves) should be all over a guy like Butler.

To think that Carlton would rather try and prise Papley out of a longterm contract than go after Butler has me beat.
