Tigers Vs Hawks teams

Can someone please clarify if these are just farewell games for Simmonds and Brown or what? I mean seriously, they should be no chance to stay on the list next year. We're back to playing 3 or more 30+ year old's in a rebuilding period, what other rebuilding side does that? Scott Lucas didn't even get a farewell game and he was a club champion. Just move them on. Either that or they're trying to judge them on form and whether they should keep them on by looking at the last 2 games which also is a ridiculous notion.

I'd like to think farewell games are reserved for long time Tiger players, champions and captains. I'm not sure Simmo and Browny, as good as they were, fit into the "Deserving of a publicised farewell game" category.

I prefer to look at their inclusion as a chance to shop them around, or in to give the new kids a rest.

I'd say Simmonds is in as backup for Gus as Ty is stuffed and needs a rest. I think they've tried to limp him thru to the end but he's got nothing left in the tank. Browny - no idea. Unless there's an announcement to be made on the Footy Show tonight :-\

I would be tempted to give Cogs another year to step up. Bit much to expect him to produce first year fit.

We have a lot of crap on our list and Cogs offers heart, aggression and some inside skills. Deserves to stay.

Another pre season or 10 will not improve his pace and foot skills, time to move on.

It really shows how pathetic JON and Hughes have been when they cant get into a side like this. Our depth is embarassing.

I dunno...I could maybe understand Simmonds as Vickery might be out of steam but Brown?? Waste of time continually playing him you would think. Is he going on or not, surely they have made the decision based on his injury riddled year, age and form. This would've been the perfect opportunity to play some more kids like Gilligan who's been decent for Coburg seniors, Connors perhaps, Putt even. Just give them a taste as there's absolutely nothing to lose.

Little to gain by elevating rookies now. If we were looking at finals then maybe but now its just a waste of money. As for some of the others, considering how poorly Coburg have been travelling lately, I'm surprised we managed to find 5 players to elevate this week.

Perhaps Essendon have a chance of making the finals - hence no farewell game for Lucas or for any other Essendon player?

Yuk.

How the hell does Matt White keep getting a game? Has had a shade of the Andrew Krakouer selection policy this year.

I cn't understand not playing Post and Vickery, better to get games into them. Seems no point in not playing them with ony two games left. In 10 days time they can have a 2 month rest for those who ridiculously claim they "look tired".

Playing Simmonds and Brown would seem pointless.

Vickery, I think is done for this year can barely get off the ground at the minute but Post should be out on the paddock as third tall in defence or attack.

Would have liked to see Post in again this week but it is disappointing that he didn't respond at Coburg.
Both young talls have had a good taste of senior footy and could really care less at this point, just get them ready for next year because they are sure to be playing plenty in '10.

Keeping them eligible for the Rising Star next season.

That's probably as good a reason as any to keep them in the Twos for the rest of the season.

luck to polak i hope he has a great game i do not want you guys to win of course but i will wish this guy well it is good to see he gets that chance at getting an afl game ! well done , reminds me of Lekkas coming back from a stroke that is a big thing too , sadly he left i think the stroke still effected him slightly and that is why he hung up the boots after a come back .

Agree. Nothing more to be learned from him at the moment.
Would have preferred to see a bloke like Connors get another try.

what rubbish we have everything to gain by looking as many kids as possible as often as possible. nothing to lose and plenty to gain.

Perhaps because he is one of the few guys who will block, shepherd whenever possible. Something most on here bemoan the fact that so few of our guys do.

happy with the inclusion of thomson and polak, but definitely not happy with some, ie simmonds. at leat i guess it would ensure we lose the game, that's something.

The two games leysy's seen this half of the season Vickery's looked shot. Didnt want to go near Jolly in a contest against Sydney. Totally intimidated.

Clearly Best for his development to go back & regain some confidence before the years over. He's got none now.

As for Post. For his own improvement he needs to pray Richo goes round again. Its going to be a couple of years before he's ready for journeymen defenders like Roberts-Thomson. If Richo & Then Jack can take the two best key backs it will help come along far quicker.

Matty does more than some people give him credit for but it obviously doesn't go unnoticed by the coaching panel.
