The wet

This has got me thinking. Maybe we are the wet weather specialists. Below are some of our memorable wins in the slush:

* 1989 - v Brisbane Bears at the G

*1995 - v Hawthorn at Waverley kicking 4.16.40 to 5.4.34

* 1999 v Adelaide at AAMI Stadium

* 2003 V Frem at the G

Ahh the memories.

I don't remember the Bears one but really loved the others. How anyone could prefer to sit under the roof of the sterile dump to watch footy is beyond me. I would have loved to be out there barracking in the rain this week.

I think the Bears one was a LOSS... timeless image of Tony Jewell pulling away at the little hair he had! Not good memories at all.

I also prefer the outdoor football, no matter what the weather. It it the only way to play and watch. If you want to be inside and watch footy, stay at home and turn on the TV.

Finally... all the talk about flooded grounds, sprinklers etc, makes me think of the Saints and Moorabbin, back when they were crap (70's and 80's). Is this what we have become, aspiring to be like those saints that got flogged by record margins?

This thread MUST be light-hearted in tone, otherwise we will live in dark days.

Time to remember the words of Churchill... "These are not dark days: -these are great days"

I recall the Bears one. First time we had ever beaten them. Bears kicked 4 goals for the day and Hardie kicked all 4.

I remember going to the Saints disco at Moorabbin on Friday nights in the 80's and between songs you could hear the sprinklers going in the centre square so it was a bog heap so the Saints might have a slight chance.

Maybe we should try that tactic

the pies game was the game newy broke his leg and it was also the game that raines ran through pendlebury which would make it 2006 as pendles was taken at pick 5 2005

my highlight from that day was straight after that raines hit. rocca dumped tambling so we gang attacked him, led by foley. we were fierce that day
