The Selwood Legacy

Dermott Brereton said on the radio he did it early in his career. Hawthorn were playing North, he ducked a tackle John Law yelled at him to stand up and take the tackle you weak *****. Dermott said that offended his macho so he stopped doing it.

Ginnivan, Miers and Weightman are top 3 in my book. Staging for free kicks and ducking your head to get a free for too high is a blight. There was one instance yesterday where the ball was loose on the ground and few players around it and a Pies player just dived like he’d been shot except there was no one near him!

Same with the Mansell running too far on the kickout.

I bet it's not called again for months
To be fair he did run a long way but yes, umps rarely call the huge distances players run out from full back. Tom Stewart sometimes run to the 50m mark…..

Whilst I agree with the sentiment we had one of the better exponents of it playing for us for quite a while in Jake King !!

We did, and the fact that it’s still happening is an indictment on the umpires. Selwood has made an absolute art out of it. When we made an art out of manning the mark they changed the rule!

We got called for everything and more in the Adelaide game......I think the boys got spooked, which aided to the loss
I agree. When you simply don’t know what the rules are and the umpire is seemingly making stuff up on the fly that would make impact decision making significantly.
