The richmond vfl preliminary

Corey Ellis starting to play with greater confidence and more mongrel in his game. Went in hunting the ball aggressively a few times. Will be a player if he keeps that up. The penny has dropped for him but too late for this season.

Had a good behind the ball tussle with an opponent in front of us on the wing. I was very happy to see him finish on top.

Craig McRae was on SEN this morning.

- said there are many players in the VFL who will be unlucky to miss out in the seniors.
Lloyd, miles, CEllis, Markov, Short as others.

- we might be ahead of the curve with the game style with smalls.

- if it was up to him he would play 18 smalls.

- never seen such a clean bill of health in his time as a player and coach. Only Drummond on the injury list.

- the pressure to play another tall eg Hampson that the temptation is there but will continue with our smalls.

- been building the culture around the club.

- when we last played GWS we learnt how they want to play and as we saw against WC and can't allow that.

- Jacob Townsend a wonderful story of perseverance. Was best in 12/15 games in the VFL.

- both the VFL boys and the AFL boys feed off each other. When the VFL boys saw the game at the MCG against the Cats it lifted them in their game and he hopes their win Saturday will lift the boys this Saturday.

- has aspirations to coaching as he has enjoyed these last two years.

Has been embarrassed by Graham in all facets maybe that has been the foot up the arse he needs.

Don't think so. Graham alread has a man's body, Ellis has a light frame and it can take a lot longer to grow the confidence to take big bodied players on.

All three games into account, Ellis is our VFL player of the finals so far.

Reckon Lloyd personally but Ellis has definitely improved.

Miles would have a case too.

Isn't it good that we have at least these 3 playing with form - there is others you could add to that list to.

Where did this depth come from

Ellis, Moore, Lloyd, Miles, Beasley, Bolton, Menadue, Markov, Conca, Batchelor, Stengle can all be pleased with their finals series so far. That's why we're winning.

Even Morro and Hamper have started to play well!

Yeh, those guys all have the ability to go to the next level, although its unlikely Miles/Batch will p[lay too many more AFL games for the tigers barring injuries.

I hope Miles & Lloyd do not go to other clubs but will understand if they do seeking more opportunity - if we could get something for them it would be a bonus.

Interesting to see the other ex Richmond Moore.
Only saw him this game, still seemed willing, but just not able to hurt the opposition.

Other interest was O'Rourke.
Seems a long way from the level Hawthorn are looking for.

Moore and Hunt had a good battle, no love lost there. Brother Kelvin was there watching.

Amoore had a shocker, plastic tough guy.

Hunt destroyed A Moore. Our man was in the best IMO.

A Moore was a serious dud at AFL level at Port and should never have been brought to Punt Road, wasted listed spot that one.

Good recruiting, yott.

And good development.

Good development agreed but let's not get carried away re good recruiting. Unless we recruited specifically for a VFL grand final?
