I’m fairly sure they’ll prioritise the AFL side before the VFL side.

cast your mind back , we play North in the last round of H&A and the Top 8 was fairly settled unlike this year and everybody knew
we would meet again in a final the next week

North drop half their side and instruct their makeshift side to play a very physical brand , then play us in the finals the next week and win

it wasn't a good look and the AFL acted and created the bye week before finals

would happily bet you the AFL would be very angry if we sent over the VFL side and gave the seniors an early mark making a mockery of the last game

Jack and Trent stepping down is fine , the big send off at the G , fine , good for the game ...

we might be able to say D Rioli - injured and no one would question
and those open up 3 spots , but if we rest Balta and put Biggie in questions might get asked

Bring in Bauer, Banks and Mansell. Jack & Cotch gone plus MRJ. He is spud. Runs around like a headless chook.

The season went according to plan.
The pattern is 13 wins for finals, 15 wins for final four.
Apparently, finishing 13th is the sweet spot in terms of the fixture for the next year.
It is the easiest draw.
They use a computer program to calibrate it in terms of the top eight, then the next four, then 13th downwards.

I was in the VFL finals experience camp. But playing in front of 40K Port ferals is worth 10 finals games in the VFL.

FWIW, I think Port will rest players for this game.

Not saying we will win or anything, just think it is also a bit of a nothing game for them.

They can’t make up the percentage they need on the Pies or Lions to go top 2, so unless the Saints can topple the Lions, Port finish 3rd is most likely outcome.

Tempting for them to take the risk and freshen up a few players.

I am all for bringing more kids but as VF finals is now in play we should keep a strong nucleus in the team to see how far we can go. That said the two changes you mentioned seem spot on

long season the vets seem on their last legs.
emotionally a long season.
coach doing a runner, legends retiring.
much work to be done.

Funny, with the big Jack/Trent send off it feels like the year is already over.
Prob also with it being our last match at the G.
Was thinking what the players are doing for Wacky Wednesday.
Keep having to remind myself there's one more match.

Selection will be interesting.
Saw the 2nd half of Vfl match.
Bauer is the obvious choice for Jack.
Not so clear on Trent's replacement.
Maybe Coulthard.

Port will be interesting too.
Wonder if they rest some players.
