The I ❤️ Collingwood thread.

To be fair, they lost the 2018 GF by f*** all. They should have won. Get that close and you go for it. Premierships are damned hard to win, you have to go for it when you are a chance.

It's just that they screwed up big time in the amount they were paying some players, to win premierships you need to spread it out a bit otherwise you can't get enough quality across he whole team.

They are in a pretty bad place now and it will take a while to get back. Eddie needs to take a fair bit of the blame for all of this and I would think most Collingwood supporters are more than aware Eddie's use by date was a while ago.

Got a Collingwood mate who begs to differ. Reckons they were lucky they were so close. He knew they were going to lose 5 minutes in to the 3rd qtr.

He does sort of agree with you though. They got in front and played safe. He blames Buckley for it and hates him with a passion. Heard from his wife on the weekend that he is so disillusioned with the Pies he is thinking of buying a Dogs membership (true!).

Reckon Eddie's announcement will be the best chrissy present he has had for a while.

Your Collingwood mate may well be right, but geez they were close.

Then again, Collingwood, Grand Final, what was he expecting - they would win it :rotfl2

I agree, playing safe is not a great strategy, you have to keep going for it. Maybe Bucks was just so nervous getting so close he wanted to try a risk free way to win.

I'm with your mate, if WC had lost that, and they could have, would have been a travesty. Missed soda after soda, then slotted the tough shot from the boundary. WC clearly the better side.

Grundy and DeGoey's contracts have caused the firesale .
Grundy doesn't influence match results that much imo and Degoey is not consistent.
Time for Maguire and Buckley to go.
Make Peter Daicosthe sock puppet president.

Ned "The Fall" Guy was never going to appease the masses.

Eddie's is the head that rolled. Being as powerful as he is he gets a year to plan succession. He's retiring.

Nobody was fired because they might bleat and point the finger at...

Eddie retired. Walsh retired.

Eddie *smile* up the TPP. That nobody was actually sacked proved that. Eddie's silence was an admission too.

One more round, Eddies gone.

If anyone wants to enjoy a bit more of Collingwood misery, the 1980 Grand final is on now on FoxFooty:cupgold:banana

Sorry guys.
That's my best GF (in my life time) no other comes close
(73,74,17,19 or 20) .

Beating Collingwood is the happiest days in my life.

I hear ya Zips, but I'm worried that they might get someone good in who will sack Figgy and then they might start getting their *smile* together

That club is cursed.
2018 proved it, 5 goals up against a team that struggled on the venue and they still found a way to lose.
When Penderbury goes they will go through very ordinary years.
I cant see anything coming up from there kids that looks promising enough to make them a top 4 side. They are in a similiar boat to hawthorn 4 to 6 good players, then 15 very ordinary ones.
I can't wait for them to sit in the bottom 6, like we did between 2004-2012. while we are sitting comfortably in the top 8.

This was on the back of Eddie wanting Beams back.
That decision alone has set them back. 800k over 4yrs, plus losing 2 first rounders.
That would have to be the worse Trade in the history of the game

And yet Ned Guy survives another day...
He is gone. They cant all get the ass at the same time.
Who ever takes over will remove him before he signs.
Knowing Collingwood they wont go for a junior coach they will go after Clarkson, Roo's or Lyon.

It may well have been posted here but I saw a graphic of their 2015-19 1st round draft picks. Two went on Treloar , two on Beams and the other one they used to pick Stephenson.
Whoever is responsible for that surely has to go
