The Geelong Cants

Heads will explode!
Can't stand dud coaches.
Scott will go down as the biggest Dud in the comp.
*He never had an issue in getting players to come to the club.
*The huge open advantage of playing at the only true 'home ground' in the country
*countless top 4 finishes in 10 years.
*Rule changes

The top 5 dud coaches currently.
Simpson, The old Codger, Longmire, Teague and Scott.

Top 5 worse in the last 25 years
Neeld, Watters, Judge, Buckenera, Shaw.

Just have to say I love the name of this thread. :clap2 The Cants are my most despised team, closely followed by the Bummers.
Watching their preseason game the other day their move of Blicavs into the backline is not working. He has been a link player through the middle and that is now gone and their ball movement is like treacle. I predict mush pain for the Cants this year.

I just loved the photo, and video of the Victorian based captains from a couple of days ago, Chimp was holding the Premiership Cup, with Selwood sitting next to him. Selwood couldn't help himself, he had to have a sneaky little look at the Cup, I swear I saw a tear in his eye :rotfl1
can you send me the pic, please?

Can't find the video, I think it was on 7news, have looked for it but can't locate it. The video showed Selwood having a peek.

Bloody disgraceful that someone let Crippa actually hold the 2021 cup for the news report. Gunna be as close as he ever gets to deserve holding the bloody thing n I hope someone wiped all his greasy sweaty Carlscum contamination off the cup after he touched it.

If we get a pick in the top ten from the cants this year it could be the final death blow to them after a decade of risky recruiting. I cant imagine their members will be to happy.

Someone should write a book "The Geelong Delusion". It's about how how lots of people still believe in this archaic idea that Geelong is the best team in the AFL. They base those beliefs on fallacies that were disproved by logic many years ago. But still, some continue to delude themselves.

Its not only the "best club in the AFL", but they also have a massive delusion over their drafting. We hear the same crap every year about Stephen Wells finding "diamonds in the rough" yet I don't think any history proves this. Matthew Clarkes record is far superior.

Their "drafting" is exactly why they are on the precipice of a massive fall, because the amount of 21-26 year olds coming through is practically non existent.

The ones they have they don't even put games into them. I could be wrong but i think thier drafting over the last 10 yrs is listed earlier in this thread & it's far from good.

Well, there’s a few on PRE that acclaim Wells as a genius.
Apart from his F/S picks who are the “hidden gems” he’s found?
Paul Chapman pick 31, Cameron Ling pick 38,Corey Enright pick 47 1999, was a handy haul.
I’m not sure when Wells started as head recruiter.
But were his hits and misses any better or worse than other decent recruiters?

I'll have to track it down when i have the time but his drafting over the last decade is a disaster, it's his traded in players which he's done well with not drafting over that period of time. Media are at the point where any kid he calls out on draft night is instantly a 300 game superstar in waiting.

Just watched the short video of the GF unseen on the AFL site. I know we all bag Scott but just before the end of the match he did show class when he went to our box to congratulate Dimma before the final siren

Great video, and a huge difference in how the two coach.

Dimma barely mentioned the Cants, Scott mentioned us repeatedly.

Hey, I like bagging Scott as much as the next Richmond supporter, but he gets a s***load of respect for that. Losing a Grand Final sucks, it has to happen to one of the teams on the day but it still sucks, 1982 will never be far enough in the past. I'll give him that one, it took a lot to go in there and congratulate Dimma and I would have to say he is a bigger human being than we get to see most of the time.

Yeah nah. He's been relentless in the Richmond sniping for a few years now. Bitter is the best word to describe him. What you saw was Scott waving the white flag. He probably thought Dimma was as fixated on Geelong as Scott was on us, but he'd be wrong. Dimma is the Irish Wolfhound. Scott is the yappy Pomapoo.

Yeah real eye opener into the different coaching styles. Scott telling the group about our injuries and how we r pooping ourselves around the contest etc. Dimma just keeps the focus on us and the process. Doesn’t let the group waste energy on focusing on the opposition etc. brilliant stuff.

Scott really didn’t have a good read on the game at all going by that. He was happy with everything even though we were all over them. Soon as we had a sniff the game was over.

Yep good summation.
