Yep, done with GC & NM front of mindAfl is going to allow 20% of senior coaching contract to go off the soft cap.
It 100% is only happening has gcs signed a very expensive Dimma ,it wouldn't have hot through otherwise.

Tidy little bone arse to the clubs paying through the nose for their coaches, bend over n dig a bit deeper if you've got a start up coach on moderate salary.Yep, done with GC & NM front of mind

No waybaker needs to be made captain or we will lose him by end of 2024
4 to retire, or is that including traded out?So the following players are over 30 years at the start of next season 8n age order. Which do we think will end their careers?
Dusty - imo 50/50
Grimes - finished - was done 2 years ago
Pickett - many seem to want him to continue for the 100 games (and father/son - which will probably be worthless once AFL changes rules just in time). Also has the burglary charges hanging over his head. 50/50 for me.
Naismith - done - 4th knee reco
Prestia - done - soft tissue injury king, has been an issue for a while & just can't get up week in week out
Lynch - contracted through 2025. Am concerned for him, 8 games in last 2 seasons. Fingers crossed he gets through the rest of this season otherwise not sure he will continue 80/20.
Broad - contracted, stays
KMac - looked gone earlier in season but has fought back. Not sure he can sustain. I don't think we can keep both Pickett & Kmac. 50/50 for me.
Vlaustin - contracted, stays
Nanks - contracted, stays, just concerned at his high workload, has become unstuck in recent years.
I say at least 4 to go.
I'd say only Dusty would possibly (but unlikely) move somewhere else. Grimes & Prestia retire. Would anyone else take on Pickett or KMac? They're all unrestricted free agents except for Pickett and at their age and what they would be offered I doubt we'd get anything back.4 to retire, or is that including traded out?
I wonder why we gave them just 1 year. You can add Steely Green and Campbell Gray to the re-signed list, til the end of ‘25 for both.
Understandable for Gray, not sure for Green. Jury must still be out on him.I wonder why we gave them just 1 year.
Still remaining. Colina should be cut.Updates -
2024 - Blight, Coulthard, Cumberland, Dow, Graham, McIntosh, Prestia, Tresize, & Colina as a Cat B
Have patience…..Colina has to go…enough already!
Where’s the gritted teeth emoji ?Have patience…..
So I think this means with those signings we have the following contract expirys. Please correct me if anyone sees any that are wrong.
2024 - Baker, Blight, Campbell, Coulthard, Cumberland, Dow, Graham, Gray, Green, Grimes, Martin (retired), McIntosh, Pickett, Prestia, Tresize and Colina as a Cat B
2025 - Balta, Banks, Bauer, Brown, Clarke, Fawcett, Hayes-Brown, Lynch, McAuliffe, Sonsie, Young
2026 - Broad, Gibcus, Koschitzke, Lefau, Mansell, Miller, Nankervis, Ralphsmith, MRJ, Ross, Vlastuin
2027 - Dan Rioli, Ryan, Short
2028 - Bolton
2029 - Hopper, Taranto
So with Martin retiring, we still have 1 too many on our list, and have 14 on our main / rookie list still out of contract. You'd think certainties to extend in that group would potentially only be Campbell and Tresize. Green a probable. Blight and Gray should get extensions, leaving maybe 9 to go, plus either Rioli, Bolton or both.
So tops we would have 11 picks, but likely if Rioli, Bolton or both leave along with Bakes and Graham, that at least a couple of the group in 2024 will get 1 year extensions, probably a couple of Prestia, Pickett, McIntosh and Dow.
Reckon we will have 7-9 list spots to fill in the trade / draft period.
