Sydney Stack

It would be better if we delisted him and offered him a modest contract for our VFL side with the carrot of giving him a spot on our senior list if he gets it together.

He would still be within our system but at arms length.
Delist him and anyone can pick him up if he has a quality season n grows some maturity.

When was he given second and third chances ? Yes he *smile* up but he also learnt, this kid is all about apologies, and how do out of character it is for him, Marlion owned his indiscretions , stack never has it’s always someone else’s fault. They were going to move in him in with Dimma preseason 2020 why do you reckon that was? He was living with Monique until she threw him to the Kerb, why do you think that happened.

Because when you're 20 relationships come and go? They did spend 6 months apart when he was up in the hub. Maybe stack is like Rioli and wants to be in a family setting as opposed to living on his own?

How long did Rioli live with the Hardwick family?

I'm sure when Pickett was at his lowest point people would have spoken about him worse than they do now about Stack.

900 elderly people have died and now people like Sydney are in gaol for leaving the house.

There’s no excuse for losing fitness and disregarding club orders, but these are strange times for young people who don’t understand or respect the rules imposed upon them by politicians.
I can assure you not all where elderly.

I understand the view of those that want Syd sacked. If I'm honest, it was my initial reaction.

But I'm now firmly of the view that I'd like to see him given the chance to make it. He's young and seems pretty immature. He needs a strong family/club environment.

He needs to get his head space right, get as fit as he can get, and focus on playing the sort of footy that he showed when he burst onto the scene.

I back in the club, whichever way they go.

As a thought experiment for how Syd could be feeling about his punishment right now, let’s amplify the topic of road accidents.

It’s possible to save lives by reducing the speed limit on all roads to 20 km/hr.

Let’s say this happens tomorrow.

A few months later, you get caught driving 40 km/hr on a freeway. That night, you’re thrown in gaol for a few weeks to learn your lesson.

Do you learn your lesson?

Been on PRE for about 15 years , had the occasional break from the addiction over the years ,however as precious as it may sound in my own ears , I decided to log out for a week after I unblocked a few posters to get a broader view of people’s thoughts on PRE, faaaark incredible gossip based opinions .

So hope I’ve got it wrong re Syds want to do the work to be an AFL footballer , however it’s not the end of the world if that’s not his path , doesn’t make him a bad person , IMHo this thread has said more about posters characters and beliefs then Syds .

Certainly not calling anyone a racist , as we all have our own reasons why we have the beliefs we do, now I’ll happily admit I’m not a great fan of Adam Goodes and his saga, however reading this thread I do get some small understanding of what he ment about been racially vilified, I feel some have taken the easy way of just labeling Syd a young indigenous and that’s why he goes “ walk about”

I think some of the name calling of Syd and the attack on his character has been weak as *smile*, yep Syds has made some big , selfish, immature, just plain stupid mistakes mainly re covid , however he’s also again made some absolutely silly little decisions that any young footballer that’s not in the AFL do every weak , again doesn’t make Syd a bad guy, now I understand I’m probably in the wrong and yes Sydney shouldn’t be in places that get him in trouble , however I’d rather a “brother “ try to stop an altercation then just run and hide , again silly silly boy and he needs to mature.

People are kidding themselves if they don’t think he’s upbringing has anything to do with his common sense, his discipline, his respect for authority, these are not things he should use for excuses , he’s old enough now by his birth certificate to make the right ones, however Syd is very immature and still making incorrect and immature decisions . I liken it a bit to just going to the pub for a couple and ending up waking up with half eaten kebab beside you.

Many who have bothered to read this much of my post will be thinking what bull *smile* and that’s fine, I’ve always been one who:sees both sides of the story , however on this occasion I’m only supporting the RFC and have no doubt they’ll do the right thing, keeping Syd is without doubt the best thing for Syds future , imho I’m not sure it’s the best for the RFC , however most importantly there’s a lot more equipt people at the RFC to make those decisions...thank god ;)

Not sure if I put this on Pre Previously, however was lucky enough to witness a beautiful moment with my son last year , my son went to a special school , no major disability, however has poor speech and very poor fine motor skills so his hand writing is very poor, however , he wrote an essay on Syds life and gave it too Syd to read , The combination of my sons poor hand writing and Syds poor reading skills ment a couple of page essay took quite some time to read , however once Syd had finished reading it he was quite moved and instantly gave my now very proud boy a big hug , for dad it was simply bloody awesome .I think will find not all has been writin in Syds story, like the media many on here just want to look at the negatives with this highly talented , undisciplined young indigenous lad from WA .

My last thought on the subject why throw a Tiger under the bus in the social media world?I don’t get it , i just can’t see it doing Syd or the RFC any good .

To me this thread has a lot of looking down on those from the wrong side of the track, very ignorant opinions from the better of

What will be will be , hopefully Syd becomes a Premiership player at Richmond and a leader in his community, if he doesn’t I’ll still hope he has a long happy life .

ahhh that feels better, my last words on Sydney Stack#44

He was entirely within the QLD public health restrictions at that time. If he was just Sydney Stack, private citizen, then he had no issue apart from the fight which he wasn't charged for anyway.
They both got fines for public nuisance/violent behaviour and notices banning them from the GC night precinct.

The thing is that whether he's sacked or forgiven, the club loses. Sacked, lose a rare talent; forgiven, a very public lowering of standards.

If he ends up getting, say, three months' imprisonment then the decision is made for us as he won't have any pre-season whatsoever. Perhaps they'll take pity on him and boot him back to Victoria, but he'd want to have some better answers for the judge than last time ("I was in Perth for a COVID test").

I suspect he'll just cop a fine. Judges here have been reasonably lenient in regards quarantine breachers unless they have been proven to be particularly blatant about it. If the vision that Sydney posted on Instagram before he got caught in Northbridge is tendered as evidence though he could be in big trouble.

The chances of Stack being at RFC in 2021 is as likely as Bill Brownless and Gary Lyon having Christmas together

How many others have been jailed for Covid breaches of quarantine I wonder?
In WA?
There's 5 in custody right now.
One on a relatively long term sentence.
There's at least another 3 who were caught, kept in custody for quarantine and then booted back to their home states.

It seems there could be numerous parallels here with Marlion Pickett when he was growing up in his late teens and early 20s... note also Andrew Krakouer as another RFC player who was convicted of assault with intent to cause bodily harm in 2008 and subsequently did porridge in his early 20s.

I hope the RFC continues to support this young man's development both on and off the field.

Me, like all the other guessing pundits out there, do not have have a total handle on Sydney Stack's upbringing and those challenges he has faced in his short life. My apologies to those Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders who are RFC supporters who have much more than one iota of knowledge about those innumerable cultural and societal challenges their people face, especially for those young men like Sydney Stack and Marlion Pickett etc. before him.

Having just seen most of my family for the first time in months over Christmas, I can’t imagine how hard it would have been to spend that time in isolation and in jail. I feel for the kid.
