Hi All,

PRE is a family friendly site and has a built-in swear filter. However the filter is not perfect: Sometimes it filters words it shouldn't, other times it fails to filter language it most certainly should.

I've noticed an increasing number of posters are spelling swear words slightly differently to avoid the swear filter.

If you feel the need to swear in your posts, just spell it correctly and let the filter do its job. Most of us will know what word you intended to use anyway.

The moderator team will be issuing warnings to those that appear to be avoiding the swear filter from now on. We'll be issuing demerit points to those that continually abuse it.

Any chance to fix the surname *smile* (Schu ltz) after many years?

I honestly don't know why people want to bypass it. We know what word was redacted from context.

I'll add that moderators are not omniscient, nor do we have time to look at each and every single post. If you find posts with offensive language please report it.

Too right. I don’t know why people have to swear all the *smile*.time. Well apart from when umpires are involved, they can gagf, the cheating pricks.

I’m no snitch. But for those that are :giggle: is there an anonymous number like Crime stoppers have? 👮‍♀️

I apologise for my language. I need to be a better person. On Saturday our Richmond supporting neighbour came in and watched the game, so my language filter was on for her as well. Not easy, I can tell you.

Not really. There's many words including the surname S chultz still filtered as a swear word after 15 years. I think that this *smile* is too soft to express what someone really feels. I thought this forum was 99% grown up adults, even considering Xwitter and other social media forums allow the swear words to be shown.

The swear filter being overzealous is one thing.

Folks using special characters, or deliberately misspelling to avoid the filter is another. We're nor Twitter, or Facebook, and its been a long standingrule from Rosy's days.... I mean, does it really matter if someone is calling a media numpty a *smile*, *smile* or *smile*?

Maybe It can be a choose your own adventure book like when we were young.

I occasionally watch those dashcam videos on YouTube, they are often linked from a cycling forum I am on.

One of the stark things about them is the language. You watch a US dashcam video and they're all saying "oh my goodness" or something like that. The Australian videos? Every second word starts with F and appears as *smile* on this forum.

Face it, Aussies swear a lot. I always have to hold my tongue overseas but here, I hear swear words all the time. Just part of our culture.
