Supercoach 2011

Backs: GODDARD,GIBBS, DELEDIO, OTTEN, DUIGAN, LOWER, HEPPELL, TOY, D.STANLEY

MIDS: SWAN, MONTAGNA, BARTEL, GOODES, COTCHIN, D.SWALLOW, GAFF, CONCA, HIBBERD

RUCKS: COX, FRASER, PETRIE, Z.SMITH,

FORWARDS: N.RIEWOLDT, FRANKLIN, DIDAK, HIGGINS, YARREN, KNIGHTS, KRAKOUER, RICHARSON, MATERA, DARLING

Going to carry the goose egg in the ruck in the first round for the long term cash cows of Fraser and Petrie.

Not a bad team SCOOP.

I have similar rookies. I think your team is lacking a couple of keepers though. Relying on a few risky mid pricers to really push their totals up.

My team - SkillzThatKillz - Subject to change of course depending on named teams

Defence - GIBBS - DELEDIO - BROUGHTON - GRIMES - ENRIGHT - OTTEN - LOWER - COAD - STANLEY - DUIGAN

Mids - SWAN - GODDARD - BARTEL - COTCHIN - FOLEY - BEWICK - HARRIS - ATLEY - LIBERATORE

Rucks - SANDILANDS - COX - PETRIE - SMITH

Forwards - FRANKLIN - HARVEY - GOODES - YARRAN - KNIGHTS - KRAKOUER - RICHARDSON - MATERA - DARLING - MICHIE

All important $79000 in the bank.

Bit light on the forwards but this is where in intend to do the majority of my upgrading.

Most of the medium players should rise in value and the rookies should all play games early.

I finished in the top 2300 last year and hope to do even better this year.

And yes, no Swallow.

Will see how he goes in the first 2 rounds before considering him and his price tag.

Higgins I reckon is a no brainer, same Cotchin. Knights avergaged 80+ when his body allows. Yarran, Otten are the punts. Got to take a risk at some stage.

Reckon Hurley is the most over hyped guy in supercoach. Not sure his style gets numbers. Also Easton Wood. Not sure he will come that good.

Put up your sqaud Jimmy Boy!

That's still only 13 keepers SCOOP. Pretty risky IMO and a lot of mid pricers. Also I wouldn't trust Cotchin and Krakouer to be keepers (obviously I hope Cotchin explodes but he will need to avg 105-110 to be worth it in the mids). I'm not saying it's a bad side at all. If that sort of strategy comes off it could pay dividends but I just structure mine a bit different.

Backs: Goddard, Gibbs, Deledio, Grimes, Otten, Lower, D.Stanley (Toy, Duigan, Batchelor)

MIDS: Swan, Selwood, Montagna, Murphy, Heppell, Harris (Conca, Prestia, Bewick)

RUCKS: Sandilands, Cox (Z.Smith, Derickx)

FORWARDS: N. Riewoldt, Franklin, Pavlich, Goodes, Higgins, Krakouer, C.Richardson (Matera, Darling, I.Smith)

That's my SC team. Been playing around with it a bit. What's annoying me is I had Broughton instead of Grimes but had to downgrade to get a better midfield bench and Conca in. I'm confident Grimes can score as well as Broughton but injuries are a concern. No Swallow, just can't seem to fit him in. Could burn me as he's very popular obviously. Prestia should score well though and he gives me DP link to forwards. Bewick also another little concern. But he's played well in the WAFL and should be semi-unique. Scored 110 or something in last preseason game and given Brisbane are rubbish should get games. Not many good midfield rookies this year. Besides that I'm pretty happy with it. I normally start with 14 or 15 keepers, I've got 15 at the moment. Leaves room for upgrading + injuries and to fix any mistakes in the original team. Finished 1600ish in SC last season, aiming for top 500 this year.

My DT side is similar to this except Boyd over Murphy, Didak over Higgins and Broughton over Grimes. Might consider starting Murphy as captain in round 1 as he and the other Carlton mids normally destroy us. Then back to Swan.

I'll still chop and change a little....once the teams come out.......especially the bench players.

GODDARD, GIBBS, DELEDIO, MILBURN, J.GRIMES, HEPPELL, HIBBERD, STANLEY, TOY, PUOPOLO
SWAN, JUDD, BOYD, COTCHIN, DANGERFIELD, SWALLOW, HARRIS, LIBERATORE, IRONS
SANDILANDS, COX, BAILEY, DERICKX
N.RIEWOLDT, FRANKLIN, J.RIEWOLDT, PAVLICH, A.KRAKOUER, C.RICHARDSON, MATERA, DARLING, R.KERR, CALLINAN

Apparently it's only the Tiger and scum players you have to have set before tomorrow nights game. All others are still able to be set until Friday night.

good luck guys. remember to set your Captain, Vice Captain and 3 emergencies

I think this round because of the partial lockout you can use the loophole. Just set a VC on someone who's playing tomorrow and no captain. Because not all players are locked tomorrow night just Carlton and Richmond players. Say you set it on Murphy, he scores 150 SC points then you just don't set a captain for the rest of the round and you get his score as a captain. If he scores poor you just select a captain from another team before the 2nd lockout on Friday.

Pretty sure this applies to both SC and DT. Although probably only relevant to those with one of Murphy, Judd or Gibbs. Probably won't be setting a Richmond player as captain. :hihi

Hmm maybe.

I'm not sure how they could stop it though? I got reminded of it from Calvins Captains who now seems to write for the AFL DT site so still seems it works.

The Loop Hole – Partial Lockout

Partial lockout occurs this week and it creates a ‘loop hole’ for selecting a captain. But shhhh. On Thursday night select a ‘VC’ and do not have a ‘Captain’ selected. If your VC scores something you like then keep that score and do not select a ‘Captain’ for the week.

If your VC scores poorly, then on Friday select a ‘Captain’ whose score will replace your VC score as normal. Ssshhh it’s a secret though... and ‘yes’ it works!

If you have already selected a captain and need to unselect it. Simply trade that player out, save your team, and trade him back in! Easy!

How can I use the ‘Partial Lockout’ to my advantage?

Select a Carlton or Richmond player as Vice-Captain. If he scores well (let’s say 130) you can swap a non-playing bench player (eg. a Gold Coast rookie) onto the field for one of your 22. Give the non-playing player the Captaincy and select the player you’ve subbed off as an Emergency. Your ‘Captain’ will not play and therefore pass off the double score to your Vice-Captain (having scored 130) and the player you’ve subbed off as an ‘Emergency’ will come on to score you his normal points. Thus using the system to your advantage.

This strategy is also applicable if your Vice-Captain in the Carlton/Richmond game scores poorly. If your Vice-Captain scores poorly you simply give the Captaincy to another premium. This essentially gives you a second shot at picking a high-scoring captain.

Say you have a benched, playing Richmond/Carlton rookie. Select that player as an Emergency. If he scores well, put a non-playing player onto the field and his score will count. If he doesn’t score well, however, you can simply keep your regulars in.
