Steve Hocking

i did an AFL survey this week - it was about the game i attended on the weekend but there were questions about overall thoughts about the game
I made use of these to talk about the stand rule, the ridiculous 50m penalties for moving a tiny bit and that it has completely changed the game and I have been going since 1969. If enough AFL supporters do the survey then hopefully they might take some notice. So if any PREérs are AFL members and got the chance to do the survey please do it!!!

The 'stand' rule will be this MF's legacy. Completely changed the game.
50m penalties for one step off the mark is absolutely ridiculous.
Might lead to more goals but it's not footy.
The problem is the sycophants in the media are once again raving about scoring and how great the games have been.

Any potential dissent is obviously gagged.

Haven't been to a game yet and normally desperate to go to live footy and watch every game I can on TV. Have nowhere near the level of interest this year, don't think I have watched one full game. This rule and the poor umpiring of basic rules (throwing/illegal disposal and holding) are really dampening my enthusiasm for the game.

As you suggest, it's not footy.

Intresting, i'm finding it hard to watch a complete game. Normally turn off at half time.
Even Richmond vs Saints i switched off during the 3rd , before the saints stormed back.
Kinda schocked when i switched back on to watch the last 10m in Q4

The AFL surely have to look at a 25m penalty. 15m penalties back in the day were too small but 50m is far too punitive.

I did the opposite. Watched the whole game and switched off with 10m to go in Q4!

They're too dumb to measure, otherwise just keep the 50m but pay it on massive incidents like slam dump tackles, bumps causing concussion, whacks to the face and reported etc.. instead of pedantic minor incidents.

How's Pepper Scott going in this job? Is he doing something to improve the game or just going through the motions and being told to follow-up on SHocking's blueprint?

The Grand Prix had over 415,000 people attended the 4 days.
What's the AFL excuse.
The sun was too bright?

The fully electronic tickets and the stand rule is what it is. AFL clubs need to start lobbying as well on behalf of the members.

They do and they are not heard and told to STFU is my opinion. Interestingly (or not) the peak body in my industry is ineffectual and corrupt so we just ignore it now. The AFL is a peak body for footy clubs and needs to respect them.

This is doing my head in, I just can't enjoy watching the game anymore and then I saw that headline from Robinson saying "Just Can't Stand It". ... only to find he's had a whack at Prestia for faking a handball..! (Obviously the 1st to do so!)

The AFL have created this and of course clubs will do whatever it takes to gain any possible advantage from a shambolic rule change.
It's destroying the very fabric of our competition and is an embarrassment for the game that I love.

If there's a dedicated thread then I trust @Mr T. to merge this in there please.

Great that Richmond hater Robbo is so upset.
Imagine if his pet hate, Tom Lynch had faked the handball, he'd shut down with another crankcase overpressure like he did last year.

Would've insisted on a 'Bringing the game into disrepute sanction!'
I'll guarantee now that as the instances of the fake handball become more prevalent, Robinson will no doubt say that Prestia started it!
