The worrying long term aspect is this is all being set up as a future handover from McLachlan to an AFL executive led Hocking and the TWO Scotts....!

In fairness, I think the Dees play a good brand of footy to watch.
Rules haven’t affected them.
Maybe it looks better when you use winning clearances and not putting your defence under constant pressure.
Not getting our hands on it first and then having to attack from deep defence, after 4 years, seemed a task too hard for us this season.

100% no rule changes after the Melbourne win.
Just save them when Richmond does win one.
The Stand rule and kicking in rule need to go immediately.
Meatloaf showed that he was incredibly stubborn on the rules. The ruck nomination rule needs to be thrown out immediately. If a team can’t work out who is up and goes third man up that is their problem and not the umpires.

Strange things is that I'm pretty sure we dominated clearances during the finals series of 2020.
Didn't mind losing the scrambled pressure clearances during most of our successful period because we managed to get cleaner ball use from our outnumber off the back half. Changing to 6-6-6 set up for centre bounces meant we had to adjust to win more clearances n did so.
Injuries to our main rucks, key mids, plus form issues, plus decimation of our back half late threw our entire season into chaos n patch ups.
When was the last time the reigning premiers played 7 debutants plus a second gamer in a season.? Add in another few players who'd previously managed the barest handful of career games and most weeks the bottom 6 of our team was seriously exposed, which in turn overloads the senior core who were struggling with injuries n form. Vicious never ending circle.

Leppa mentioned before last years GF that you get bang for your buck otta the centre at the Gabba, so it was something they wanted to exploit
Dont you reckon its telling that the only thing The AFL do in a non-boys clubs, transparent, democratic, diverse manner - the norm smith medal - is the only thing they consistently get right? Simplistically, Yesterdays panel; respected old vic champ, respected old WA champ, respected black fella ex-con on his country, respected woman?, media sycophant. Votes all published, process made explicit. They almost always nail it.

When you get three key forwards kicking 6 (Fritsch), 3 (Brown) and 2 (McDonald) that’s 11 goals just there from your key forwards - that could be enough to win a final on its own. I know Fritsch is not a KPP but like Caddy, when on could do damage. Add in a Gawn (although be played mainly behind the ball yesterday) and that new ruckman/forward floating into the forward line, they had some great pieces to throw around.
Their dominance from centre clearances from mid 3 qtr onwards meant their forwards were always going to feast out and they did.
We know we dined out on one KPP in 2017 and everyone said the days of multiple KPP forwards was over but it ain‘t which is why we got Lynch.

As much as some (probably most) people want to see stand rule eliminated I don't see it happening. The football media deemed it a success in the first 2 weeks and haven't changed their tune since. AFL won't change it when there is literally no pressure from the media to do so.

A rule change that was of far more impact wasnt a rule change as such but changed interpretation.
Holding the ball stopped being a thing. Total HTB numbers across the season must've halved I reckon. It's still the same rule per se.
But now players have time to get rid of it and if it spills its play on.
Remember when there was prior opportunity? Don't care about that anymore. Dropping the ball? Play on!
The upshot is that players/teams adapted. Held onto the ball, spun around and handled to a teammate.
Bigger body mids profited the most.
