Who remembers this Hocking abomination?

Noticed everyone quoted in the article who was supportive or "open-minded" to the rule changes were or had been affiliated with Geelong...

Yes, that was at the time when they realised that the tiges weren't just a flash in the pan, and they were *smile* scared of us going back to back.
At least those rules were trialled (in a couple of VFL games against bottom dwellers) unlike the crap rules that have since been brought in

Who remembers this Hocking abomination?

average score that round was 95 point and average in the 5 games decided by less than a goal 92 point.

The game was obviously stuffed!!!

Who remembers this Hocking abomination?

The article was 5th Aug 2018 - when we were reigning premier and sitting on top of the ladder.

Shocking was trying to devise anything and everything to "peg us back a bit"

*smile* him

the game was in a much better state then than it is now. Where are the "state of the game" discussions and forums now?

Yes and now we have keepings off betwen the arcs, while both teams park the bus in front of their goals.

Reading Harry's attached article, it's funny how every soft **** from Geelong wanted the rules changed while others didn't.

At least we don't have to count sheep anymore to fall asleep!

Shocking has done more damage to the game than any other person in the history of the VFL/AFL. When you think of Demestos, Adrian Anderson and co that's saying something.

Yes, I noticed that a James Podsiadly was there as the "AFL Game Analysis Officer". Gee, where did he play most of his games I wonder?

average score that round was 95 point and average in the 5 games decided by less than a goal 92 point.

Yes, but, but, you know the Coburg Werribee game had an average score of . . . oh, it was 58 to 105, average score 81.5 . . . but it must have been exciting, the margin was only, oh, it was 47 points. The average for the other VFL games in that round was 81, no difference really.

So, they tried it out, the new rules were a fail, and they implemented some of them anyway like 6-6-6.

*smile* idiots.

SHocking did you watch the Blues & Pies games which were an insult to the AFL week to week public. SHocking did you watch the over umpiring of games especially Fridays night game. SHocking you have reduced the AFL's mans game to Little League. SHocking the quicker you go to Geeeloong the quicker they will be like the rabble Blues & Pies. Goodbye & take Gil with you if you can.

Don't need them. Gilligan, his pet suits n the meedjia will all lovingly explain to us uneducated n unwashed masses exactly how SHocking has already saved the game.

Shocking has done more damage to the game than Covid as well as any other person in the history of the VFL/AFL

Silver lining is that Hocking will always be known as the guy in charge when Richmond returned to it's former glory and won 3 Premierships in 4 years.

The problem is his not accountable media and other afl people got no balls to question him.

I liked Dylan Grimes standing still on the mark waiting for play on to be called while the Giant with the ball ran 10 mtrs past him.

the club should send the video to the AFL and ask what he should do?
the rule, whilst stupid in design, and intent, is also creating another situation where the umps need to decide whether they pay what the rules say is a free, or if they show leniency, which leads to inconsistency.

also Friday night the Giants players often run away from the mark, to be outside the 5mt area. the umps then called play on when our players started to go to kick the ball, even though we hadnt gone sideways, or gone near where the mark actually should have been.

conversely when they had the ball they were often going a long way behind the mark, Ben Brown style. this further reduced the impact of having anyone on the mark.
