Sports Quiz

Thanks Rosy.

Which club holds the record for most consecutive years in English top division (including before Premier league) football & how many years is that sequence currently ?

Correct.

Near enough re the years . My source states Arsenal last relegated in 1913 & not promoted (re-elected actually) back to Division 1 until 1919....1919-2005 = 86 years

Ready ,

Over to you...

5 is correct

1967 Tottenham 2 Chelsea 1
1975 West Ham 2 Fulham 0
1980 West Ham 1 Arsenal 0
1982 Tottenham 1 Queens Park Rangers 0 (replay after a 1-1 draw)
2002 Arsenal 2 Chelsea 0

step forward, TC

Good question, that took a fair bit of studying both records and maps :)

Who did Richie Benaud replace as test captain?

For 1/2 point, Why did his predecessor retire?

sorry TC i had to cheat and look up the answer out of curiosity:

Craig left the game for commerce, and joined the Australian subsidiary of the pharmaceutical giant Boots, where he was to retire as managing director.

That is if the answer actually was Ian craig, lol

He had hepatitis apparently

Aren't we allowed to use references to find answers?

I don't remember the last 150 years of FA Cups off the top of my head

And I had to look up some of the more obscure clubs

To make sure they weren't in London

So if that's cheating you better deduct my points :)

yeah i read that he had hepatitis but from what i understood of the article, he still played through it but his performances weren't as effective. I couldn't find out if he handed over captaincy before retiring. We're allowed to use references, most of the questions asked are near impossible to answer (esp stats-based questions).

anyway i'll ask a question.

Which Australian NSL club did Stan Lazaridis play for before going to England?

For a bonus half point, what were the ethnic origins of this soccer club?
