In which season was the penalty shoot-out introduced as a means of settling FA Cup ties, instead of the traditional method of conducting replay after replay until a winner was determined?
 
Both incorrect. A bit of trivia: the first top flight side knocked out on penalties were Manchester United, by Southampton at Old Trafford.
 
What an idiot, I missed the critical word "ties" and was focussing on the final where the rule was obvioulsy introduced later.
