After WC beat Tigers last year at Optus by a Kennedy goal WC coach Adam Simpson stated in an interview on local Tv a few days later saying it " great to beat the best side in the comp". After that we all know why Tigers finished down the track. Astbury gone but Tarrant can fill that void. Chol gone but Soldo back & we know how good Soldo is. Houli it was going to be his last season anyway. So with Dusty & all the lads coming back (Broad Balta etc etc) Tigers are not going be shovelling crap each week with the likes of Parker,Will Martyn, Ross ,RCD,Dow ,Mansell ,Cumberland & Stack ready to really fire. Also Tigers draft power this draft will also put some more fire in the Tigers belly for 2022. Another factor finishing down the track 2021 Tigers game programme for 2022 should ease .

I cannot understand why we weren't interested in Dunstan. He can't kick granted, but he can get it, tackles, and wins clearances (We are not very good at that). We're not interested in Lipinski either? He's going to go to the Pies for 58?

I have my fingers crossed we will move money if someone we like becomes available. In terms of us having another dip a winning the whole thing Dyer's right too, any of Mitchell, De Goey, or even Wallace added to our list improves our chances of winning the big dance in 2022.

Not sure it’s a game about turnovers anymore. It still is, to some extent, but we must improve at clearances. But doubt we have the cattle at this stage.

I reckon 2022 is our last tilt and that relies on the stars aligning ie Cotchin, Martin, Prestia, Lynch and Jack all being elite. It's possible, but unlikely. We are investing in youth to set us up like Geelong rather than die like the Lions and Hawks dynasties did. However this too is unlikely as so few teams achieve it. What we actually need is to drafting two elite mids - that will typically take top 5 picks - which we don't have despite our strong drafting position. We are taking an each way bet - which is fair enough.

This era is done. We may bounce back into the finals next year but we won’t seriously contend. Nothing wrong with that, we had our moment and took advantage of it more than most clubs do.

We need to trade up into the draft and find the next batch of kids to build our core around and have them learn the “Richmond way” from our outgoing stars. History suggests it takes at least 7-8 years to recruit and develop a core group of players for a serious premiership assault. We may be able to shorten that by a couple of years given what we already have on the list and with strong drafting now.

From 2023 we keep topping up with draft prospects. Maybe one of them becomes elite and a couple become decent B graders.

In the same time frame the likely types Ralpho, Dow, Nyuon, Cumberland and RCD develop into decent B grade players. Bolton, Balta and, fingers crossed, Stack and Mujo become elite (a stretch I admit).

We'd have to let a few go (the likes of McIntosh, Ross etc) and re-structure De Goey's and Mitchell's contracts (performance based) to stay within the salary cap. But hey - if they want a taste of that champagne from a Premiership Cup they'll do it.

Seems like a recipe that could work to keep us in Premiership contention (as opposed in contention for Geelong’s 4th spot).

Those that think we are about to fall into an abyss are mistaken. We are not Geelong. Yes our elites are ageing but I have high hopes for our younger cohort of Bolton, Balta, Baker, Rioli, Graham, Short, Soldo, Stacky all led by Nick. All capable of being elite in their position. Most already have medals around their necks.

However we absolutely need further quality in the guts and up forward. Youthful quality is key. A Hopper or Tarranto ideal. Cerra was an interesting proposition....wonder why we walked away?

Starting to soften on TM but still not convinced. JDG is a great footballer...but a nutcase....and nutcases erode culture.

Young quality. Hollands from GC a priority.

reading through this thread, I am surprised at the negativity. I believe we can win the flag next year and we should go all out to do so. That’s not to say that we shouldn’t go to the draft as well. but we don’t need 7-8 picks in the top 40. Trade for a couple of ready-made players and/or maybe trade for extra picks next year.

Whilst in theory the above would be great, from what the club have alluded (outside Tarrant) the cap is too tight to bring in anyone. Let alone one of the above. Or both.

putting an AA-type season together (note i didnt say going AA, because that hitches our wagon to morons),

over 30's being fit in September,

1-2 of Mansell, Dow, RCD, MRJ coming from the clouds and demanding a best 22 spot

and Aarts winning the Liston Medal

like all flags, its alot to right, but as plausible as Dees having an injury tsunami and peter wright kicking 7 against them in a prelim.
