Set Shots on Goal

Pity he can't get a kick when he plays in the one's.

Spot on with this quote. When he does get his chance, apart from falling over at the drop of a hat or giving away undisciplined free kicks - he misses the shots which he is getting paid to kick. He misses too many of the shots he should be getting - that is why he keeps getting dropped

Watching Kane in the Coburg game I thought he has the perfect body for an AFL player.....good height, solid, strong. Its a shame that someone with his physical attributes appears so frightened on the ground.

Kane Pettifer could teach some of our senior regulars how to kick for goal.

In the Coburg match he kicked a goal from outside 50 in the wet and windy conditions with ease.  I would put Kane as the best kick for goal in the entire team.

Yeah, just make sure there are no shadows lurking nearby to frighten his pants off when taking aim

I would debate that struggle, in his defence i must say that up until the latter half of last year, i would have said he wasnt hitting the ball as hard as we would like, but i did notice a change in him, subtle but a positive at least in that i noticed a little more aggression, and more self ridicule for stuffing up. At least he was aware of his mistakes.
I have to say that at least he is one player that gets sent back to the 2s and doesnt drop his head, puts in because he is hungry to get recalled.

Maybe we are looking at the wrong players when talking about our achilles heel...lol..sorry one of our achilles heels...i am talking about FF, because that is one thing the kid has and that is that he can kick straight.

DMX,
The one attribute l cannot accept in any footballer,
let alone an AFL player who has full time highly paid career from the game, is a guy who drops his head in a marking contest....its squibbing the issue and its unforgivable.
I have seen Kayne Pettifer do this on several occasions.
I hate seeing a RFC player do it, the effect of shirking a contest runs like wildfire through a side.
He gets jostled and roughed up by EVERY opposition club DMX
because they know he is likely to be intimidated!!!!
I can see it as clear as can be, so lm damn sure they can too.

I hope he turns it around soon, because all his talent is being wasted and we could sorely use it right now.

Lets not worry about Pettifer. He is finished. 4-5 years ago when he should have been developed we crucified him by not giving him enough game time and trying to turn a midfielder into a small forward.

I dont think anyone realises that he hasnt been aroud all that long. 4 or 5 years? where do you get this info from Josh?
I can see a lot of people calling for patience with Shulz, and i can see this for sure, at least Pettifer showed something when he debut. Shulz gave us one mark, and 3 kicks and an airy in the square, up against a hack in Mark Graham.

So lets not get ahead of ourselves when shelving young players. Especially when they are played in every position but the one they are most likely to excel in.

As for struggles comments about shirking the issue and hating it..i am the same, and if you had a real close look at Shulz then if you are saying be patient with him then you should be saying the same about pettifer.

Dont get me wrong, I am fast getting the stamp ready for pettifer's file, but i also know there are quite a few more senior players in our side that i would close the file on before his, and in the case of Shulz, his stamp is almost ready to be actioned.

He is in his forth year now. Very little signs of provement since he first started. I say he has actually gone backwards.

Poor kid, no wonder he punches himself in the head, he realises where he is and his once flourishing footy career has now been ruined by the ineptitude of the development staff at the tiges.

Makes you wonder why we are constantly talking about how other teams have had luck with their higher end picks, when in fact they were just players that might be worthy of a look at , who were nutured and developed expertly by people that know how.

I really don't think he was capable of playing league in the first place. :(
But I guess we'll never know now. :(
