Semi finals 2022: Cleaning dog hair off the couch games

Walker. Wow. Can’t recall a player so obviously overawed by the occasion. They’d be better off sitting him on the bench for the rest of the game or faking an injury and subbing him off.
Sure, Rids. The kid is young and inexperienced, 2nd ever AFL final. As you say, looks 'so obviously overawed by the occasion.'

But have you watched him a little over the season? I like what he can bring; reckon he will make a player. Just having a mare!

# Edit: indicated early when after a great bit of play, forgot how to kick from 30m out. Some guys can almost paralysed by nerves.

Pies getting such an easy run, I think the dogs would've given them a better run for their money. Can freo do a Lions and just go for it, hope so because if they don't game is Gonski

Unless he's been playing the old rope-a-dope trick? ;)

It was noticeable in the second half of that quarter that they were trying to draw the Colingwood press up the ground, making them run hard to cover balls they have no chance of intercepting.

I reckon they definitely made the decision to try and take energy out of Collingwood's tank, rather than try and score, as their best chance of mounting a comeback.

Yeah, if you watch in slo-mo, Berrys fingers go to Olivers eyes and dig around. If you watch in real speed while Berry's head is being pushed into the ground his hand pushes up and very momentarily goes near Oliver's eyes.

Cameron was looking straight at Pickett and deliberately put his fingers very close, if not into, Picketts eyes.

I reckon he will get off on appeal.

I haven't specifically seen the Berry incident and fair enough if they give him a week for gouging Oliver's eyes. But the issue, as always with the AFL, is how many of thse they let off. Was it Selwood on Baker in the 2020 GF? Someone above mentioned Cameron on Pickett. Fine, rub players out for this, but do it every single time, not sometimes, every single time. It isn't like there is an issue with the speed of such incidents, they are reviewing footage after the game.

Have to stop those sideways chip kicks.

Take the game on.

If they don’t come out in the third quarter with intent the game will get beyond them.

Yeah he played well last week; in the warm cocoon of his home crowd. But he’s been absolutely terrible tonight. Dropping chest marks, kicking it on the full under little pressure. He’s gotta be better than that.

It's a brave strategy but their only hope now. Seemed to work against the Doggies but they often run out of puff.

What about when he was running into an open goal 35 out in the first quarter and he tried a short pass to the top of the square?

Bianco for Collingwood looks off the pace too.

Collingwood are doing a great job of covering any switch and the pressure is causing turnovers. Somehow Freo need to work out how to get out past half back. Winning some clearances would help too.

The latter point is the key. Freo don't move the ball quick enough, so they need to take territory through clearance otherwise they get held up too much, which is what we saw all through the 2nd half. Didn't win enough clearances and then couldn't take territory which led them to play most of the 2nd quarter in their defensive half.
