Scratch match v Dees

Cheers for the report Stig.
Hardwick said Pickett played well today in his post match presser.
Also liked Dow.

Its not like he will bag him.
Need to play kids, don't worry about Pickett he hasn't got any defensive side in his game.
Its going to get even harder without "scratch' matches. Not allowed on the hubs

I can tell you with 100% certainty that Port, Adelaide, West Coast and Freo have been playing scratch matches in the hub.
Hardwick said it in his presser that there will be no scratch matches. This is why some younger players and coaches won’t be coming to help with development.

They have.
They mentioned this on Fox and said its going to be hard for the 8 sides going into Queensland because the only time they will be allowed out of the hotel is to train and play.
With No Reserves style games allowed

TOP RICHMOND DRAFT PICK IMPRESSES IN SCRATCH MATCH LOSS BY SEN

Melbourne have defeated Richmond in a scratch match at Punt Road Oval on Sunday afternoon.

Both sides will face each other at the MCG later in the day but before then, players from both sides who weren’t picked were given a final hit out before heading in their respective interstate hubs on Monday.

The Dees trailed at quarter time but proved too strong against Richmond, prevailing 12.8 (80) to 8.7 (55).

Oleg Markov and Callum Coleman-Jones both kicked multiple goals for Richmond.

Thomson Dow, who was taken with pick 21 in the 2019 draft, was also one of Richmond’s best in a losing side.

The Tigers are off to Queensland for the rest of July, while the Demons will join Hawthorn in a New South Wales hub next week.

Full time: Richmond 8.7 (55) defeated by Melbourne 12.8 (80).
Dow, Eggmolesse-Smith, Bolton and Pickett among the Tigers' best.
Goalkickers: Markov (2), Coleman-Jones (2), Soldo (1), Naish (1), Ralphsmith (1), Dow (1)

Pickett played down back on Mitch Brown . Pickett isn’t a backman . Showed glimpses hardly in best players . .playing 13 aside means plenty of one on ones
Dow and Naish were standouts .

So no Garthy?
Was he a carryover emerg like Jack G?

PS Big thanks for the reports
Garthwaite injures along with RCD
Backline players were Miller , Pickett, Ross , Turner and Egg
Turner showed a lot yesterday
Egg played ok but made some very ordinary mistakes and attempts on the ball

Thanks for the report....hiw did jack ross go ?
Jack Ross played across half back . Had the hair cut . The mullet is gone . Played ok but fair to assume others in front of him for selection . Don’t know why the experiment across half back either .

Our tall backups are.. Miller.
I guess Chol could be sent back if necessary.
Here,s hoping Balts stays on the park.

Mitch Brown is a largish fellow, if i remember right? A key forward - JR size.
Sounds like a reserves team setup with no better key defensive option.
Hope he finds form in the hub

Again thanks for your reports!

Bizarre that we are playing Ross at half back

If its to learn defensive running /pressure then surely its better to play defensive mid.

If its to get touches as a sweeper /hbf sop and learn running patterns for outside ball and linkups then Ross needs to do this as an onballer. Play him in Lambos role off the hff
Risks getting bad habits a la Mills at swans.

If its to get a replacement for Houli - we have tried kmac, markov, naish, stack. One has looked the goods.

Its our apprenticeship position but Ross should be fighting for senior mid spots.
Play him midfield
